Big Yellow Daisies
All the things we carry and blooming in due time

By Michele Nampalli
POETRY
We live inside our daisies the sun beams down our clear blue highway on the way to some California.
Today, Tracy, her balloon pants tied in the back on fairytale lane shoestrings billowing in the wind, her smiling caterpillars waving goodbye and Rob, he's on the road to the mountains by way of the crystal caves cigarettes up his nostrils stuck between hiccup plaza and sugar cane self made and I, well, I held on too tight to this half zip ended up warmed to perspiration inside a Joshua tree only to sit under mushroom lamps writing notes to you and me.
And there I found I missed a toadstool, it begins: we hold ourselves at a distance we hold each other we are yellow belly daisies and the sooner we are the longer we last as buds when no one is watching
