My Experience:
I prepared for the exam for roughly four weeks, starting my review on July 1st and taking the test on July 31st. Since most of the concepts from Domains 1 and 2 were new to me, I spent a week and a half on Domain 1, a week on Domain 2, and covered the rest of the domains in weeks three and four.
I always take notes whenever I'm learning or reviewing, which helps me deconstruct and truly understand the concepts. I took some practice exams before test day, which was incredibly helpful because it introduced me to terms and concepts not covered in my primary study materials. Early on exam day, a very good friend volunteered to be my "rubber ducky" (someone I could explain topics out loud to), which solidified my understanding of the domains even more.
During my final week of reviewing, I got really nervous that I would fail or that I hadn't studied enough. This definitely affected my confidence, but I just prayed through the anxiety, which really helped calm me down. I highly recommend holding onto your beliefs whatever they may be and using them to ground yourself.
On my way to the testing center, I was calm but still a bit nervous. I arrived early and debated whether I should cool down my brain or do a few more practice exams I ultimately settled on the former. Because of the adaptive system, my exam ended after I answered 100 questions. While working through the first 20, I found the test to be quite easy and straightforward. I honestly think you could pass this exam with just one week of intensive review. However, if you truly want to learn and retain the concepts, I recommend taking your time. By doing so, you'll likely find the exam much easier, just as I did.
Whether you pass or fail the exam, you should be really proud of yourself. More than 1 million people enrolled in the free CC program and over 570,000 took the course, but only a little over 65,000 people have actually progressed through the program to earn their certification. This shows that just by committing and taking the exam, you are already ahead of the pack. It's completely normal to be anxious and scared, but I believe the real fear should be not taking action and missing out on opportunities.

How the exam and grading works:
The ISC2 CC exam uses an adaptive system that changes difficulty based on your performance. Answering a question correctly triggers a harder question that carries more weight toward your final score, while answering incorrectly triggers an easier one that carries less weight. The test lasts between 100 and 125 questions, which includes 25 unscored experimental items.
Grading is based on question difficulty rather than a flat percentage of correct answers. Your total performance is converted into a scaled score from 0 to 1000, requiring a minimum of 700 to pass. Because the exam is adaptive, the system will automatically shut off once it is statistically certain that you have either passed or failed.
