Microsoft 365 administration is managed through the Microsoft 365 admin centre. It allows IT professionals to securely provision users, assign licenses, reset passwords, and manage tenant-wide settings. Administrators also utilize specialized portals like Microsoft Purview for compliance and Microsoft Defender for security which are other forms of Admin Centres. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
In this walkthrough we will go over how to do different things on it like making users.
Creating Users inside Microsoft 365 Admin Centre.
- Start of by going to the drop down for users on the left hand side, and clicking on Active users. Then click on Add a user.
- This process is simple, add whatever name you like to start with, and for the username input the same as the name to keep things simple like in my example. When done click Next.
- Please check the following before clicking next, once done do so.
- If you drop down roles you will see lot's of options for different admin rights you can give to this user, feel free to scroll and look at all the different types. But once done please click User (no admin centre access) and click Next.
- Now Finish adding. If done correctly it should come up with the following.
If you go back to home on admin centre you should see the new user we have created, in my instance it's Sam. If you click on the user you get different options such as reset password, block sign-in and delete user. Try out the different options to see what happens.
In this walkthrough we went over what Microsoft 365 administration is, also how to create a user within it, and overlooked options for users that come with it, in the next part I'm going to go over understanding the mailbox.
