Day 2 of the TechCrush Cybersecurity Bootcamp moved us from "what is cybersecurity" into the careers, roles, and tools that make up the field.
High level, we covered:
- Career paths in cybersecurity
- In-demand roles and what they actually involve
- Certification paths that build credibility
- The essential tools professionals rely on
I'll keep the detailed material to myself — it belongs to TechCrush. What I'll share is the shape of the day and my takeaways.
What clicked
The biggest thing was seeing the map. When you start out, cybersecurity can feel like one giant, vague field. Today it broke into real, named paths and roles — and suddenly the destination stopped being abstract.
That matters more than it sounds. A clear destination turns a daunting climb into a series of next steps.
Where I fit
Coming from AI prompt engineering, I could finally see where my background lands: the roles at the intersection of AI and security, where understanding how systems think is just as important as knowing how to protect them.
That overlap is the lane I'm aiming for.
What's next
Day 2 made the path feel concrete and a lot less intimidating. The tools and certifications give me something tangible to work toward, and the roles give me a direction to grow into.
Onward.
