Half-Closed Eyes
Living in Your Gaze

MC Poetry
I study you like my body already knows what my courage hasn't caught up to.
You look at me like the day is ending too fast, like light is something we might never get back.
Paint peeling off my name — i've been parked in your driveway of doubt, engine humming with things i never said out loud.
You don't touch me, but something in me opens anyway doors i boarded up because wanting hurt less in theory.
Every memory is overexposed — laughing until it fades to white, hands sticky with summer, promises melting in real time.
I drive with my eyes half-closed, trusting the heat on my skin more than the road.
If i crash, let it be into you. If loving you ruins the color, let it.
I'll live in the glare, sun-worn and honest- bleached by the way you look at me.
If i lean any closer, the moment might confess itself.
So i stay right here, letting your eyes speak where your voice won't, hoping one day they'll choose me out loud.
