Checking for security at the end is not the same as building it in
We make Halfcycle, one of the two products below. The full comparison, with every source, is linked at the end.

Bolt does something many AI app builders do not: it checks your app for security problems when you publish, and offers an audit of the whole project on paid plans. That is worth credit.
A check at the end, though, finds problems after they are built. The cheaper moment is before. Who can sign in? Who can see whose data? What happens when a login is missing or a key is wrong? If those answers are not written down before the code, every part of the app answers them on its own, and a scan later tells you where they disagree.
We built Halfcycle to plan that in. It runs inside Claude Code as a software team made of AI agents. Before anything is built it asks the questions a product owner and an architect would ask, and the answers about who can see what are written down once, as part of the plan. Each piece is then reviewed against them by an AI agent that did not build it, before it is added. Keys are kept out of the code, a missing login or key stops the app rather than letting it run half-configured, and the final walk through the app happens properly signed in.
That is not a promise that nothing slips through. It is the difference between a rule written once and a scan hoping to find where the rule was forgotten.
Halfcycle can be quick too: ask for a quick prototype and it builds one the same day. And Bolt's own docs say a project with a database or backend should stay on Bolt hosting, while Halfcycle leaves the code with you to put live where you choose.
