AI API keys leak through the platforms that store them, not only through your code — here is a three-question check and a rotation order you can finish today.
One idea, three questions: every copy of an AI API key is a place it can leak from, so count the copies, limit what each key can do, and make each key fast to replace.

AI API keys are only as safe as the least safe place that stores a copy of them. The Railway and OpenCode breaches in October 2026 show that a key can leak from a platform you trust, so rotate your AI API keys now: create a new key, deploy it, then revoke the old one at the provider.
If you build anything on top of an AI model, your keys are probably stored in more places than you remember: the deployment platform, the CI system, a local .env file, a coding tool that shares access with your team, and sometimes a log line. Each copy belongs to a system with its own security, and each of those systems can be breached without any mistake in your own code.
