Have you ever think how one of your class fellow who is a backbencher is Now more successful? Its because they all go extra mile to achieve something .But we don't see there struggle but remembering them as a back bencher. Here's my story of going extra miles for an internship in Serena Hotel.
After dropping my CV at the Serena Hotel in Faisalabad, I haven't heard back from the HR team. The best things are often as simple as this. I felt like trying out my luck in the Human Resources job at Serena Hotel Faisalabad and applied for an internship with them. I decided to go to the hotel in person, rather than call or wait for an online notice of an opening, and send my CV.
Well, I was a little nervous when I first came into the hotel. I had many questions in my mind: Would they accept my CV? Could I find a match? Did I do the right thing without contacting anyone first? I did tell myself that growth is sometimes a product of going outside our comfort zone, but I still had my doubts.
Once I arrived I introduced myself as Graduated person in bachelors in Food science and technology and stated my desire to obtain internship experience in Health and quality assurance department. The staff took me by the hand and escorted me properly and I could submit my CV. The process was a simple one, but an important lesson was learned it is important to take initiative.
One of the challenges I faced was overcoming my fear of rejection. It's natural as a new graduate to not have the confidence to take risks and wait for the "right" moment. I did, however, learn that employers value people who are proactive and willing to go the extra mile. I was able to overcome this challenge by thinking about what I want to achieve, not what I am afraid of.
Also got an experience that gave me the importance of confidence and professional communication. Next time, I will be better prepared by researching the department some more and bringing several copies of my CV with me in case I get other jobs.
My tip for students and fresh graduates: if opportunities don't come to you, then you must go to the opportunities. Another quote that gave me inspiration during this experience:
"Success is where preparation and opportunity meet."
One visit is not enough to ensure success, but it does help to get your attention noticed. Most important, it fosters confidence, which is a worthy doing right in itself. The other quote goes,
"Go the extra mile; it's never crowded there.
