Vienna & Prague

It all started with a seemingly unimportant conversation with my wife. I mentioned wanting to visit a country with Scandinavian-style architecture, partly inspired by the architecture I had seen in the Harry Potter movies. That curiosity eventually led us to Vienna and Prague, where we explored the cities, tried plenty of food, and, of course, had plenty of drinks.

As a software engineer, I also couldn't help evaluating the technology along the way. Neither city felt particularly high-tech, but the technology we actually needed — transit apps, mobile ticketing, and transportation systems — worked remarkably well. My wife, Evelyn, navigated both cities with ease, and everything simply worked. Ironically, when we returned to the U.S., the Global Entry kiosks in Philadelphia were experiencing bugs.

I am now wondering how is tourism related technology in high-tech countries such as Japan but for now, next year's vacation/tech evaluation trip will be to Asia. Country TBD.
