I’m very lucky

August 20: World Mosquito Day: I wondered why we have a day for the mosquito, then realised perhaps it was to spread awareness about all the diseases they spread. I consider them pure irritation and evil with no redemption. Do you have a mosquito story to share? (Anu maheshwari)
Thanks, Anu maheshwari, for this prompt!
It's currently Winter in New Zealand, quickly moving into Spring, so I had forgotten about the existence of the annoying Mosquito.
Mosquitoes are the worst. They keep you up all night with their buzzing, and you keep trying to slap them but instead just end up slapping yourself.
Thankfully, I've never had too much trouble with bites from these guys. I had friends growing up who suffered from so many bites.
If a mosquito was around, they'd be covered in bites the next morning.
I might have one or two.
They're mostly an annoying producer of white noise for me.
I remember one night in the summer when there were three mosquitoes buzzing around my room. Around my ear, more specifically. It was the most annoying thing ever. I kept smacking myself in the face while trying to get that mosquito to shut up.
I didn't wake up with bites, but I did wake up with a sore face.
