Jim's Cyber Squawk is online!
My name is Jim, and I've always been an IT guy — Information Technology. I've spent years working with computers and networks of all kinds, from mainframes and desktops to routers, switches, firewalls, and peripherals. I've been certified, taught others how to get certified, and installed and repaired more equipment than I can count. You get the idea.
I enjoy helping people understand the jargon, why things work the way they do, and why certain things need to be done a certain way. I'll throw an odd technical term at you from time to time, but I'll always put it into plain language. If technology has been making you a little crazy, I'll help clear that confusion.
This blog is about explaining IT for people who don't want a wall of abbreviations and buzzwords. I'll break things down into what they are and what they actually mean for you. You'll be better equipped to get through your day or simply understand the technology you use a little more. I'm not going to turn you into a computer scientist, but I can help you become more comfortable and confident with the technology you rely on.
So let's get our hands dirty.
