Rejection introduces us to parts of ourselves that we never thought existed within us and makes us feel things that we didn't know we could ever feel. And don't get me twisted here.
I am talking about the time when we put our heart and soul into something we truly wanted and we were openly rejected in ways we never imagined — not verbal but in true visible actions!
And this piece is a small write-up on what goes into when we are rejected in ways we never imagined and from places which we wanted to call our place of peace.
I had been truly passionate about something for the last couple of years and for the past 2 and a half years I put my heart and soul into it. I did everything I could in my capacity, put in more than 100% of my effort and worked my ass off only to realize much later that I was considered just a "Basic". Only to realize much later that I was solely considered an outsider and was decided to be kept an outsider since day 1.
I have always been an introverted person and actually asking for what I needed was an alien concept. But then it is always said,
"Walking out of your comfort zone is essential if you wanted to achieve certain things".
And honestly, I ran out of my comfort zone, spoke about what I had been thinking, tried communicating ideas that I thought could make a difference and went almost to the point of humiliation and yet stood my ground, just with that little hope that may be putting in a little more effort would bring the mindset-shift I had been expecting.
But as time kept passing by, probably, my efforts started being considered to not having anywhere else to go. And maybe my efforts started being compared to uselessness rather than humbleness.
I have seen opportunities being handed over to somewhere else even though I put in everything I had within me.
I think at this point I can only recall the quote that keeps circulating on Instagram,
"If your efforts are not being acknowledged and appreciated on the table you are sitting, no matter how hard you keep trying, then may be that is not your table to sit in."
I think through this time I realized what we call
"Cortisol showing on our face making it look puffier".
I felt the physical pain that we feel when we go through emotional turmoil. I understood having hope is great but denying the reality can be a bigger problem.
Acceptance makes it easier. Letting the pain go through us makes it pass on faster. But sometimes it takes more than that. And hence, I took to writing it here.
Rejection does take away pieces of us from us and there is nothing that we can do about it other than just deal with it.
