Let’s talk about it.

Most people don't even understand how much I've been through in my life. I don't expect them to, and I never will.
I think I've always kept it hidden, for reasons I've never quite been able to explain. Maybe because I'm ashamed. Maybe because I'm scared that my experiences will be invalidated. All I know is that I was scared.
Scared of what people would say. Scared of how they would receive me. Scared of opening up my heart and allowing myself to be vulnerable with people because, the very few times I've tried, I've been met with heartbreak.
Let's talk about how heartbreak starts on the highway.
How suddenly, you're the only one standing on dusty sand, trying to flag down a truck, but no one seems to stop. How you close your eyes and a tear trickles down your face while you hope someone comes to your aid soon, because you have to get home. No matter what.
How, eventually, you manage to find someone willing to help you get home.
And then you get home, only to realise everyone is gone.
So you're left standing there, trying to figure out what to do next, because all you ever wanted was to get home.
How you get stuck, but never really have the luxury of staying stuck.
So you figure out how to become unstuck.
You keep moving.
You keep finding your way.
And maybe that's what I've been doing all my life.
Maybe I've just been trying to get home.
So, let's talk about just how much I've been through in my life.
Let's talk about it.
