Not surprisingly, Adobe has joined the race towards Artificial Intelligence, and for good reason. Its offerings in the fields of graphics and creative content are used every day by millions of professionals and not just in the industry. This segment, like many other professions, is threatened by generative AI, which for the moment is still not 100% trained to provide attribution and remuneration recognition to creators. But now, that is about to change with the introduction of Firefly, a family of ethical generative AI models for creating images and text effects announced by Adobe today. These models will be integrated into the workflow of Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Adobe Express. Firefly will also be part of the new Adobe Sensei generative AI services across all Adobe platforms. According to the company, it is impossible to fully harness the power of technology without an imagination that can fuel it. That's why they're doing it.
According to the company, it has been active in the AI field for over 10 years. Sensei has hundreds of smart features used in applications by millions of people. For example, Neutral Filters, Content-Aware Fill, Attribution AI, and Liquid Mode are all tools that can be found in Photoshop, Effects, Adobe Experience Platform, and Acrobat. These tools allow users to create, edit, and optimize content powerfully and accurately. These innovations have been developed and implemented in line with Adobe's ethical AI principles of responsibility, reliability, and transparency.
Today, users can request access to the Beta version to learn how to generate high-quality images and text effects, regardless of their experience or competence. During this version's development, Adobe will interact with the creative community and customers to develop transformative technology and integrate it into application workflows. Adobe Express, Adobe Experience Manager, Photoshop, and Illustrator will be the first applications to benefit from the integration of Firefly.
The generative AI models that will make up the offer will be tailored to offer users a range of skills and technical profiles for various usage needs. The first model will be trained on Adobe Stock images with open license content and public domain content with expired copyrights. It will be more focused on generating images and text effects for safe commercial content creation. Adobe-owned content will prevent Firefly from generating content based on the IP of people or brands. By integrating other models, the company will focus on preventing potential harmful biases. Finally, Firefly can be trained with its own material, generating content that aligns with its style and brand.
Just like with Stock and Behance, generative AI will allow creativity professionals to monetize their talent's fruits. A compensation model for Adobe Stock contributors is currently being developed, with more details coming after the Beta version's conclusion. Adobe is also planning to make Firefly available via APIs on various platforms to enable customers to integrate it into custom workflows and automations.
Adobe has thought of everyone and has founded the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), which aims to create a global standard for reliable digital content attribution. With over 900 members worldwide, the company is pushing towards open industry standards, with CAI open-source tools developed through the C2PA non-profit organization (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity). Another goal is to create a universal Content Credentials tag called "Do Not Train," which will prevent certain content from being used for model training and learning. The content generated by AI will be marked accordingly.
According to Adobe's research, content is increasingly driving the global economy. Creativity and design are growing in tandem, and according to a company study, 88% of brands have stated that the demand for content has more than doubled in the last year. This number is expected to quintuple in the next two years. Generative AI, according to Adobe, can meet this challenge by working faster and smarter. With the increasing demand for content, the use of generative AI can enable professionals to create more content in less time, allowing them to focus on other creative aspects of their work. Additionally, the use of ethical generative AI models like Firefly can provide attribution and remuneration recognition to creators, ensuring that they are properly compensated for their work. As Adobe continues to develop and integrate generative AI into its suite of creative tools, it is clear that this technology will play a vital role in the future of content creation and the creative industry as a whole.
