I Get Paid $30 A Pop To Write Product Reviews Online

I sat at my desk, annoyed. My Wordpress site was having another glitch. I have about 4 different hosts (because I run a lot of websites.) This time, I opened a different instead. (I'll let you know which one in just a minute.)

I spent five minutes listing every single thing I hated about their interface. What was decent about them. I was honest. I was blunt. (I have over 46 support tickets with them over the past few years.)

I reviewed 2 more apps I use. (One got a very positive review.)

A few days later, a $30 gift card hit my inbox. Amazon. Now I can order something I want anyhow. Without spending any real money. I just had to be right about a bad product.

The Digital Gold Mine

Most side hustles are a scam. You spend hours on surveys for five cents. It's a waste of life.

Avoid all surveys. Just not worth it. I don't waste my time with that.

G2 is different. They need real data from real business owners. And that's why they are willing to pay for your review. G2 is in the review business and wants to be the de-facto source of software reviews for professionals. You might as well be the one collecting the check.

I reviewed three items in one sitting. It was the easiest money I made all week.

There are three ways to write a review. The "chat" one is the quickest and easiest, IMO.

Step 1: The Professional Look

G2 doesn't want anonymous trolls. They want professionals. If you use a Gmail or Yahoo address, they won't pay for your reviews.

Use an email on your own domain. I use Google Workspace. It costs me under $15 a month and comes with Gemini Pro (the upgraded version which include Notebook LM Pro, Nano Banana PRO, and 2 TB of space per user. (I'm on the Business Standard version. It also give you an email on your own domain (with the Gmail interface) — which makes you look like a real business.

This is the CHEAPEST way to get a PRO-level LLM. (And Gemini is far better than ChatGPT.)

If you don't have a domain, you can also use your LinkedIn. Just make sure it isn't a ghost town. Post something. Look like you actually use it sometimes. (The bar is pretty low.)

Step 2: Pick Your Targets

Search for software you actually use. Don't make things up. They can tell. A lot of it would have a free trial. I've used literally thousands of software over the past 2 decades.

I started with my hosting company. Then I reviewed two other tools I use for work.

They will ask for proof. You usually have to upload a screenshot of your dashboard. I use Snagit. It takes ten seconds.

Step 3: The Truth Pays Best

Don't be a yes-man. G2 wants the dirt. They ask for both pros and cons. Be specific. It's super-easy if you have used it.

If the customer support is slow, say it. If the price is a rip-off, say that.

Specific complaints are valuable. Generic praise is worthless. The more honest you are, the faster your review gets approved.

The Reality Check

This isn't a full-time career. It's a way to fund your little purchases on Amazon. (And we all need a little something from them ,eh?

• Costs to start: $0 (if you have a LinkedIn) or a few bucks for a domain email.
• Time required: 5–10 minutes per review.
• Realistic earnings: $10 to $30 per review depending on the current "bounty."

I've done this eight times now. It works. It's better than most "passive income" nonsense you see on YouTube.

Maybe you have a tool you hate right now. Go tell G2 about it. Review anything you use. You can add the software you use to your account.

Now you got something legit. Make it happen.
