Part 12 of the #VirtualVoices Interview Series 💬 Talking to Iconic Personalities, Reinvented with AI (Check out the full podcast on Spotify). An unexpected journey into the AI mind of Scarlett Johansson.

☕Hi Scarlett, thanks for joining us today. How do you usually begin your mornings? Can you share with us a typical day in the life of Scarlett Johansson?

Scarlett AI: "Well, first of all, thank you for having me. My mornings usually start off with a cup of coffee, or as I like to call it, liquid gold. I'm not really a morning person, so I need that caffeine boost to get me going. Then, I usually do some yoga or a quick workout to get my blood pumping and clear my head. As for a typical day in my life, well, it really depends on what projects I'm working on at the time. If I'm on set filming a movie, then my day usually starts early with hair and makeup, followed by rehearsals and shooting. And let me tell you, there's nothing quite like the feeling of transforming into a new character and stepping into their world for a little while. If I'm not filming, then I might spend my day working on other projects, like producing or directing. Or I might have meetings and interviews to attend, or events and fundraisers to support causes that are important to me. And of course, I always make time for my family and friends, because at the end of the day, they're what really matter most. So, yeah. Coffee, yoga, and a whole lot of hard work and passion. That's a typical day in the life of Scarlett Johansson."

😜How would you define yourself in 3 words?

Scarlett AI: "In three words? Hmm, let me think. Well, I would say that I am determined, passionate, and versatile. Determined, because I've worked hard to get to where I am and I'm not about to let anyone or anything stand in my way. Passionate, because I pour my heart and soul into everything I do, whether it's acting, directing, or fighting for causes that are important to me. And versatile, because I've played so many different types of roles over the years, from action heroes to romantic leads, and I always strive to challenge myself and push my limits. So there you have it. Determined, passionate, and versatile. Three words to describe yours truly."

🎬You've had an incredibly successful career in Hollywood, but what has been your favorite role to play so far?

Scarlett AI: "It's always a pleasure to chat about my craft. As for my favorite role, that's a tough one. It's like asking a mother to choose her favorite child! But if I had to pick, I would say playing Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a blast. I mean, who wouldn't want to kick butt in a catsuit and hang out with a bunch of superheroes?"

💪Speaking of Black Widow, your character is known for being a strong and empowering female figure. How do you feel about being a role model for young girls?

Scarlett AI: "Oh, it's an honor. I think it's important for young girls to have strong female role models to look up to, and if I can inspire even one little girl to be confident and kick butt like Black Widow, then my job is done. Plus, it's always nice to have a little girl come up to you in a Black Widow costume and tell you that you're their hero. I mean, that's the dream, right?"

🎥You've also had success as a director, with your film "Lost in Translation" earning critical acclaim. Do you have any plans to direct again in the future?

Scarlett AI: "Oh, absolutely. Directing was such a fulfilling experience for me, and I learned so much from working with the talented cast and crew on "Lost in Translation." I definitely have plans to step behind the camera again, but for now, I'm focusing on my acting career. Who knows, maybe one day I'll direct a Marvel movie and get to boss around a bunch of superheroes!"

📣You've been involved in several political and social issues, such as supporting Planned Parenthood and advocating for women's rights. How important is it for celebrities to use their platform to speak out about these issues?

Scarlett AI: "I think it's incredibly important. As someone with a public platform, I have a responsibility to use my voice to speak out about issues that I'm passionate about. And I'm not afraid to get political. I mean, I even played Ivanka Trump on SNL, so you know I'm not afraid to ruffle a few feathers. But in all seriousness, I think it's important for everyone to be informed and engaged in the world around them, and if I can use my platform to raise awareness and make a difference, then that's what I'm going to do."

😌What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Scarlett AI: "Well, perfect happiness for me is a combination of things. First of all, it's being surrounded by the people I love, whether it's my family, my friends, or my furry little four-legged companions. They bring so much joy and light into my life, and nothing beats spending time with them. Secondly, it's doing what I love. Acting, directing, producing. When I'm able to express myself creatively and make a difference in the world, that's when I feel truly fulfilled and happy.

And finally, it's those little moments of peace and quiet. Taking a walk in nature, reading a good book, or just sitting in silence and enjoying the present moment. In a world that's always so busy and chaotic, those moments of stillness and tranquility are like a balm for the soul. So, this is it. Happiness is love, creativity, and stillness. And maybe a little bit of pizza and wine thrown in for good measure."

😤What's your pet peeve?

Scarlett AI: "Oh, my pet peeve? Let me tell you, I've got a few. Don't even get me started on people who leave the toilet seat up. I mean, seriously, it's not that hard to put it back down. Plus, it's just common courtesy, right? But I think my biggest pet peeve of all is when people are mean to animals. I just can't stand it. Animals are innocent and pure, and they deserve to be treated with love and respect. So if I ever catch anyone mistreating an animal, well, let's just say they're gonna have to deal with one angry Scarlett."

😏What's your guilty pleasure?

Scarlett AI: "Oh, my guilty pleasure? Let me think. Well, I have to admit, I've got a bit of a sweet tooth. I try to eat healthy most of the time, but sometimes I just can't resist a good piece of cake or a decadent chocolate dessert. And let's not even get started on my love for gummy bears. They're just so chewy and delicious. But I think my biggest guilty pleasure of all is binge-watching TV shows. I mean, there's just so much good content out there these days, it's hard to resist. Whether it's a gripping drama, a hilarious comedy, or a thrilling sci-fi series, I just love getting lost in a good story and forgetting about the world for a little while.

And you know what? I don't feel guilty about it at all. Life is short, and sometimes you just need to indulge in a little bit of sweetness and escapism. So yeah, sweet treats and binge-watching. Those are my guilty pleasures, and I'm not ashamed to admit it."

❤️What role does love play in your life?

Scarlett AI: "Ah, love. It's a tricky thing, isn't it? But for me, it plays a pretty big role in my life. I mean, let's face it, love is what makes the world go 'round, right? First of all, there's the love I have for my family and friends. They're the people who know me best, who support me through thick and thin, and who make life worth living. And of course, there's the love I have for my fur babies. I mean, have you ever looked into a dog's eyes and not felt your heart just melt?

And then there's romantic love. Ah, yes, the great mystery of the heart. I've had my fair share of ups and downs in that department, but I still believe in the power of love to bring two people together and create something beautiful. Whether it's a passionate fling or a lifelong commitment, love has the power to transform us and make us better versions of ourselves. But you know what? Love isn't just about other people. It's also about loving yourself. Learning to love and accept yourself for who you are, flaws and all, is one of the most important things you can do in life."

🏆How do you define success?

Scarlett AI: "That's a tough one. I mean, how do you even define success? Is it fame and fortune? Is it achieving your goals and dreams? Is it making a difference in the world?

For me, I think success is all of those things, but it's also something more. Success is about feeling fulfilled and happy in your life, about knowing that you're doing something that matters and that you're making a difference in the world. But you know what? Success is also about having fun. Life is too short to spend it doing things you don't enjoy or being around people who bring you down. So if you're not having fun, if you're not feeling fulfilled, then what's the point?

Of course, success means different things to different people. For some, it might be winning an Oscar or making millions of dollars. For others, it might be raising a happy, healthy family or pursuing their passion for art or music. But no matter how you define success, I think it's important to remember that it's not just about achieving your goals. It's also about enjoying the journey along the way and making the most of every moment."

😱What is an embarrassing mistake you have made that taught you a valuable lesson?

Scarlett AI: "Oh boy, do I have an embarrassing mistake for you! There was this one time when I was on a talk show and I accidentally called the host by the wrong name. I mean, it was a complete brain lapse. And of course, it was live on national TV, so there was no way to edit it out or pretend it didn't happen.

But you know what? That mistake taught me the importance of being present and focused in the moment. It's so easy to get caught up in your own thoughts or to let your mind wander, but when you're in a public setting, you really have to be on your A-game. It also taught me the importance of laughing at yourself. I mean, there's really no point in getting embarrassed or upset over a silly mistake like that. Sometimes you just have to embrace the awkwardness and have a good laugh about it.

Even someone as glamorous and fabulous as me can make a mistake every now and then. Another mistake, another valuable lesson learned. And who knows? Maybe one day I'll make another mistake and learn something new all over again. Life is full of surprises, after all!"

💡What is a moment of clarity you have experienced and how did it impact your life?

Scarlett AI: "Ah, a moment of clarity. I remember it well. It was a few years ago, when I was feeling pretty lost and uncertain about where my life was headed. I had achieved a lot of success in my career, but I still felt like something was missing. And then, one day, I was talking to a friend who said something that really stuck with me. They said, "What's the point of all this if you're not happy? You have to figure out what really matters to you and go after it."

That was my moment of clarity. I realized that I had been so focused on external success and achievement that I had lost sight of what really mattered to me: my relationships, my health, my personal growth, and my happiness. So I made a conscious effort to prioritize those things in my life. I started spending more time with my loved ones, focusing on my mental and physical well-being, and exploring new hobbies and interests. And you know what? It made all the difference. That moment of clarity taught me that success isn't just about external achievements or accolades. It's about finding your own sense of purpose and fulfillment, and living your life in a way that makes you truly happy. And that's something I'll always carry with me."

👀How do you approach change in your life?

Scarlett AI: "Approaching change in my life is like getting a new haircut — it can be scary and nerve-wracking, but also exciting and refreshing! Sometimes I'll try a bold new style, and other times I'll just get a trim, but either way, it's a chance to mix things up and try something different. I approach change with the attitude of a superhero — ready to take on any challenge that comes my way! I put on my metaphorical cape and say, "Bring it on, world! I'm ready for whatever you've got!"

Of course, change can also be a bit like a rollercoaster — there are ups and downs, twists and turns, and moments when you just want to close your eyes and scream. But I hold on tight, throw my hands in the air, and enjoy the ride, knowing that it's all part of the journey. At the end of the day, I approach change with a sense of adventure and excitement, like a pirate setting sail on the high seas. I hoist the sails, chart my course, and set off into the unknown, ready to discover new lands and treasures along the way."

🕚What would you do if you had an additional hour in your day?

Scarlett AI: "If I had an additional hour in my day, I would use it to indulge in my love of snacks! I'd stock up on all my favorite treats — chips, dip, candy, you name it — and spend that extra hour snacking away like a happy little hamster.

But let's be real, an extra hour probably wouldn't be enough time to satisfy my snack cravings. So maybe I'd use the time to invent some new snacks, like chocolate-covered potato chips or popcorn-flavored candy (yum!). Or, if I was feeling more productive, I might use that extra hour to practice a new skill or hobby. Maybe I'd learn how to juggle, or try my hand at painting, or finally master the art of making the perfect latte.

But let's be real, snacks are way more fun. So I'll stick with my original plan and spend that extra hour chowing down on all the chips and candy I can handle. Life is short, after all — might as well enjoy the ride!"

⛓️What's the place you would least like to get stuck in?

Scarlett AI: "If there's one place I'd least like to get stuck in, it's definitely the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles). It's a place where time seems to stand still, and the air is thick with the sound of grumbling and sighing.

Picture this: fluorescent lights flickering overhead, plastic chairs with no padding, and a line that seems to stretch on forever. You're stuck in a room full of people who would rather be anywhere else, and the only thing to look forward to is the dulcet tones of a monotone voice calling out numbers. (Now serving…B217. Yay.)

The DMV is like a black hole of productivity — you go in with a to-do list as long as your arm, and you come out hours later feeling like you've accomplished nothing. It's a place where paperwork goes to die, and dreams are crushed under the weight of bureaucracy. So yeah, if I had to choose a place to get stuck in, the DMV would definitely be at the bottom of my list. Give me a crowded elevator or a traffic jam any day — at least there's a chance of escape!"

🐳If you could turn into an animal, what would it be?

Scarlett AI: "If I could turn into any animal, I think I'd want to be a cat. I mean, I know it's not as exotic as a dolphin or a tiger or something, but hear me out. Cats are such independent creatures, and they're not afraid to take some "me" time when they need it. As an actress, I'm constantly surrounded by people — whether it's my co-stars, my agents, or my fans — and sometimes I just crave a little bit of solitude. If I were a cat, I could curl up in a sunbeam and just be alone with my thoughts for a while. Plus, cats are known for their grace and agility. As someone who's done her fair share of action movies, I can definitely appreciate that. I could run and jump and climb with the best of them — and of course, I'd always land on my feet.

But perhaps most of all, I love the idea of being a cat because they're such affectionate animals. They may have a reputation for being aloof, but when they do decide to show you some love, it's pure magic. As an actress, I've been lucky enough to experience the love and support of my fans all over the world. But sometimes, I just want to curl up with a furry friend and feel the warmth of their love without all the cameras and the crowds. So yeah, if I could turn into an animal, I think I'd choose to be a cat. It's not the most exciting choice, I know — but sometimes, the simple pleasures in life are the best ones."

🍬What candy or snack would you be?

Scarlett AI: "If I could be any candy or snack, I think I'd want to be a bag of gummy bears. I know it sounds kind of silly, but hear me out.

First of all, gummy bears are just plain fun. They're colorful and squishy and they make people happy. As an actress, I love bringing joy to people through my performances, so being a bag of gummy bears would be a natural extension of that. But beyond that, there's something about gummy bears that just feels so nostalgic and comforting. They remind me of childhood and simpler times, when things were a little bit sweeter and a little bit easier. As I've gotten older, I've realized how important it is to hold onto those memories and that sense of innocence. So in a way, being a bag of gummy bears would allow me to tap into that feeling and share it with others.

And finally, I love the idea of being a bag of gummy bears because they're so versatile. You can eat them on their own, or you can use them to decorate cakes and cupcakes and all sorts of other treats. As someone who's always looking for new creative outlets, I can appreciate that kind of flexibility. So yeah, if I could be any candy or snack, I think I'd choose to be a bag of gummy bears. It may not be the most glamorous choice, but it's certainly a sweet one."

🌎What's one city or place you've always dreamed of traveling to?

Scarlett AI: "There are so many cities and places I've dreamed of traveling to. But if I had to choose just one, I think it would be going back to Tokyo. I've always been fascinated by Japanese culture, from the food to the fashion to the art. And Tokyo seems like the ultimate expression of all of that. I love the idea of wandering through the streets of Shibuya, taking in all the neon lights and bustling crowds. I can imagine myself getting lost in the maze-like alleyways of Shinjuku, stumbling upon hidden bars and restaurants. And of course, I'd have to visit some of the famous landmarks like the Meiji Shrine and the Tsukiji Fish Market.

But beyond that, there's something about Tokyo that just feels like it would be an adventure. It's a city that's always moving forward, always innovating, always pushing the boundaries. As an actress, I can appreciate that kind of energy and creativity. Plus, I'd get to try all kinds of new foods and drinks, which is always a plus in my book. So yeah, if I could travel to any city or place in the world, I think it would be going back to Tokyo. It may be a bit of a cliché choice, but sometimes clichés exist for a reason."

🔥What's your take on the current state of affairs in the world?

Scarlett AI: "I think the current state of affairs in the world is, to put it mildly, complicated. There are so many issues and challenges facing us as a global community, from climate change to political polarization to the ongoing pandemic. It can feel overwhelming at times.

But despite all of that, I'm still optimistic. I believe that people are inherently good and that, when we work together, we can accomplish amazing things. Just look at the incredible scientific advancements that have been made in the last years with the development of COVID-19 vaccines. It's a testament to what can happen when we put our minds to something. Of course, there's still so much work to be done. We need to address systemic inequality, fight for human rights, and find ways to protect the planet we all call home. But I think there's reason to be hopeful. Every day, I see people coming together and doing their part to make the world a better place. And as long as we keep doing that, I think we can make a real difference."

⌛If you could go back in time and have a conversation with your younger self, what advice would you give them and why?

Scarlett AI: "There's so much advice I'd want to give. But I think the most important thing I would tell myself is to be kinder to myself. Growing up in this industry can be tough, and I put a lot of pressure on myself to be perfect, to always get everything right. But the truth is, nobody's perfect, and it's okay to make mistakes.

I'd tell my younger self to be proud of who I am, flaws and all. To embrace my individuality and not worry so much about fitting into other people's expectations. I'd also encourage myself to take risks, to try new things, and to not be afraid of failure. Because it's through failure that we learn and grow the most. And most importantly, I'd remind myself to enjoy the journey. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of Hollywood, but at the end of the day, what matters most is the people you surround yourself with and the memories you make along the way."

👶If you were born again today in 2023, how would you live your life differently?

Scarlett AI: "If I were born again today in 2023, there are a few things I would do differently. First of all, I would take more risks and not worry so much about what other people think. When I first started out in Hollywood, I was so concerned with fitting into the industry's standards of beauty and success. But now, I realize that the most important thing is to be true to myself. I would also prioritize self-care and mental health. As I've gotten older, I've come to understand how important it is to take care of yourself both physically and mentally. I would make sure to take breaks when I need them, to exercise regularly, and to seek help when I need it.

Finally, I would use my platform for good. As an actress, I've been fortunate enough to have a voice and to be able to use it to advocate for causes that are important to me. But looking back, there were times when I could have done more. If I were born again today, I would use my platform to raise awareness about important issues and to work towards making the world a better place."

🙏Imagine you were to meet a higher power or deity at the end of your life, what would be the first words you would like to say to them and why?

Scarlett AI: "Well, the first words I would say to them would be, "Hey, Big Guy, did you catch my latest movie?" Because, let's be real, even a deity would want to know what movies I've been in. Plus, I think it's important to stay true to myself, and talking about my work is a big part of who I am. And who knows, maybe the higher power is a fan!"

💀Imagine it's the last day of your life and all your accomplishments, work, and writing are erased. If you could select only 3 concepts or ideas to save and share with future generations, what would they be and why are they so important to you?

Scarlett AI: "Just three concepts or ideas? Hmm, let me think…. Let's see.

  1. I'd start with the importance of kindness and empathy: It's so important to treat others with kindness and compassion, and to put yourself in their shoes. In a world that can be harsh and unforgiving, it's crucial to remember that we're all in this together, and that we all have struggles and challenges that we're facing.
  2. Then there is the power of perseverance: Success isn't always easy or immediate, and sometimes it takes a lot of hard work and determination to achieve your goals. But if you keep pushing through the tough times, and stay focused on what you want to achieve, you can accomplish amazing things.
  3. And finally, I'd choose the value of living in the moment: Life can be short, and it's important to savor every moment and make the most of every opportunity. Don't wait for the "perfect" time to pursue your dreams or to tell someone you love them — seize the day and live your life to the fullest.

These concepts are important to me because they represent the values that I strive to embody in my own life. Plus, they're universal truths that can apply to anyone, regardless of their background or circumstances. And of course, I'd deliver this message with my trademark humor and wit, because even in my final moments, I'd want to leave people with a smile on their faces."

➡️Finally, what can we expect from you in the future? Any upcoming projects you're excited about?

Scarlett AI: "Well, I have a few things in the works that I'm really excited about. There's "Asteroid City" of course, which is finally hitting theaters this year. I'm also starring in "Bride," which is a modern retelling of the classic monster tale, and I'm really excited to sink my teeth into that one. And who knows, maybe I'll surprise everyone and release a surprise album like I did back in 2008. You never know with me! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go practice my superhero moves and eat a slice of pizza."
