
The Westernmost tip of the United States is located in the state of Alaska. Specifically, the westernmost point is Cape Wrangell on Attu Island, which is part of the Aleutian Islands chain.
Some people claim Noah Bay, in Washington State, is the Western Most tip, but it is actually the western most tip in the continental United States, with Alaska sitting the furthest west.
Within the Hawaiian Islands, the westernmost point is on the island of Kauai, specifically at a location called Kaula Point. Alaska, however, is the closest to Hawaii. Don't believe me?
Therefore, while Alaska extends farther west into the Aleutian Islands, Hawaii is considered the westernmost state in terms of its location in the Pacific Ocean.
What is the most eastern state? It's not Maine.
Alaska is considered the most western state overall due to its geographical extent into the Eastern Hemisphere, but Maine sits in both the east and west hemispheres.
So where is the joke? This is April Fool's day after all. The Joke is on all of you who believe Maine is the eastern most state. It's actually Alaska. Think I'm wrong? Look it up. I mean, really look it up. Many sources out there are wrong.
