I'm here again to update you all on how week 10 of my Product Design Training went down. But before that, here is the link to my Week 9 update in case you blinked and missed 😉
Now, week 10 update
This week we focused on Prototype and Interaction design.
Interaction Design was defined as the "Specialisation in the design field that is responsible for movement of elements in a design".
It was also said that " A design is not complete if it's not interactive or if people can't navigate the design"
Here are a few things one has to know about prototyping in Product Design;
Having a perfect and smooth prototype starts with the user flow
We have Lateral Movements type of prototype on Figma ( It can't be used on all screens)
Simplicity in prototyping is all that matters — Nothing too complicated or too serious
Prototyping is not difficult, it's just logical
Some dedicated prototyping tools are Invision, Framer etc
With these said, we prototyped "LearnAll" (the class project we've been working on that connects tutors/instructors with students.)
Although some students found prototyping challenging, I personally really loved and enjoyed it. We prototype all the screens we designed on Learnall, which brought us to the end of mobile design.
Moving on from Mobile design, we went into Website Design.
We discussed a couple of important stuff on Website Design — The fact that, unlike mobile designs, website design doesn't have a written down rule. All rules on website design are rather unwritten rules than written ones. However, when designing for responsiveness, one has to follow a few rules.
One of the rules to follow in order to create a responsive design is the use of a 12-column grid, which helps designers arrange elements properly in the design.
While discussing website design, it was mentioned that it is important for us to know that "a Mobile View is different from a Mobile app", which was explained elaborately. Also, the fact while designing a mobile not everything on the website is replicated on the mobile view design of the website.
Later we dived deeper and discussed the 5 E's in website design which are Entice, Enter, Engage, Exit and Extend.
Lastly, on the theory of website design, we were taught the importance of grids and how to use them in website design.
I think I fell in love with website design more after our class 🥹
Next week, we'll work on a website design — I'm so excited and looking forward to it 🤗
Voila! That was it for Week 10 in my Product Design Training
