"Due tomorrow? Do tomorrow" is a mantra I lived by in high school. Years later, traces of it continue to influence my actions. The tasks I give myself come with an arbitrarily imposed deadline of which there are no consequences if I don't follow through.
The thought of writing comes to mind but is quickly eclipsed by another that says, I can always write later tonight.
Then later that night, the thought becomes I can always write tomorrow.
Procrastination is a cycle tough to break out of because of the easy dopamine boosts established in our routines.
You could go on a dopamine detox to reset yourself. But punishing yourself for the sake of productivity doesn't sound so attractive.
The other way is to hold off from cutting away that easy dopamine entirely. Use them as rewards for when you've finished your priority tasks.
