🏝 The Digital Heirloom
👉 Yes, you can read this for free here.
Virality.
It's on every budding creator's bucket list.
But it comes and goes…like a fart in a twister.
And those suckers can move pretty fast, but there are those who spend the rest of their lives chasing it despite that fact.
I used to think content creation meant publishing every single day, no matter what.
Even if it was like falling down a flight of Lego-strewn stairs…
I got used to it-the execution despite my emotional state. Juggling my 9–5, my family, my writing.
Then life took a bat to that idea.
The Wake-Up Call Smashed Through
"Dad [has] chest pains and sweating at hospital now. Not a heart attack."
That was my brother's text at 6:54 AM.
Like sucking Red Bull through a coffee stirrer, my mind raced through endless scenarios:
The texts trickled in on dad's progress.
Observation needed. Transfer to the main campus. Overnight stay required…
5 PM couldn't come soon enough. I picked my brother and mom up and rushed to the hospital.
Heart attack upon arrival. Immediate operation.
Waiting was an eternity.
He made it through. Three stents. Seven days of inpatient recovery.
Mom didn't leave his side. My brother and I split time between the recovery room and the house. Cool customers on the surface. Knots of anxiety and stress inside.
But something our father said during that long week hit us hard:
"I'm surrounded by family and friends. That's the best feeling, no matter where I am in life."
The Reminder I Needed
It's been weeks now, and he's on the path to recovery.
I stopped publishing daily, but I kept my writing habit.
I started focusing on my sleep schedule, my water intake, my presence.
We spend our lives chasing success, security, social capital… but we don't ask the obvious question:
What will you leave behind that actually matters?
Is it the possessions, the prestige, the curated content?
Or is it something deeper?
An imprint in time that states: "This was me. These were my stories. This is what I really thought. This was my well-lived life."
The Digital Heirloom
That's why I started building.
I had lost my way for a moment, made it about the execution more than the commemoration.
It's not just about creating compelling content or vapid virality.
Forget about the clicks, the likes, the clout.
It's about being someone worth remembering.
And you don't need to wait for a personal crisis for you to start.
Let this be your invitation to begin.
This is a Path Most Ignore
We are treading water in the sea of disconnect.
Endless flotsam of distractions surround every aspect of our lives.
Stop doggie-paddling.
This isn't just about writing on Substack, recording on YouTube, or sharing on Instagram.
It's about remembering who you are…and becoming someone worth remembering. Identity. Intent. Iteration.
That's the cycle of the prismatic process.
Start creating your digital footprint and build your legacy.
When the next storm comes, your tracks will remain.
