I have known about KDP for a long time now. The first time I considered publishing on the platform was in 2019. I still have a draft book sitting in my Kindle library that I will probably never publish because it's embarrassingly bad.
But I can now say that I have published a book on the platform — whether you read it or not.
Please read it though. I think you'll like the story.
About KDP
KDP was launched in 2007 for Amazon's Kindle e-reader, but now self-published authors can publish paperback and hardback options as well. The platform has become the most popular option for writers to publish their books, cutting through the traditional corporate publishers and delivering books directly to the readers.
My Story
Personally, I only chose the ebook option because that was easiest for me. Also, my book is only 22 pages, so I can't publish it as a paperback anyway. Books have to be at least 24 pages to be published as a paperback.
My book is called The Christmas List and fits into the Short Reads section of the Kindle platform.
Believe it or not, Amazon actually has a whole section dedicated to books like mine — and they even curate works from authors exclusively on the their platform called Amazon Original Stories that are short reads.
Some of these books sell tens of thousands of copies, like the one below:

This book is written by one of the most popular authors on the planet, so I'm not expecting for my book to perform that well. However, it looks like I might have found a niche for myself. All I need is readers now.
I hope you like the story!
