I need to address this because it has been bothering me for months now. When I make small talk in public or with friends and family, it always comes up how unaffordable everything is.
And it has gotten worse in the past four years. But it's not the president's fault.
People (naively?) think changing the president will change their finances.
They keep saying gas and groceries are too expensive. At some level, I do agree. But just today on a small road trip, I spotted gas for only $2.69!!

How is this expensive???!!! The people complaining about gasoline prices are harking back to 1999 prices or something. We are never going back to 1999 prices. $2.69 is an awesome price.
Responses from a recent Facebook post:
"Vote wisely in a few short weeks…. What's been in office the past 3 1/2 years cannot continue."
You can change that in November. You know she's not changing anything. Or she'd do it now! Let's go back to being able to afford life.. Trump2024
Yeah and these people wanna vote for 4 more years of it.
I recently toured the White House:
And I will tell you, President Biden did not stop by to say hi and offer me $100. He did not ask about my credit card debt or how I was doing at my job.
As I was raised, everyone must work for their own American Dream. The president does not owe you anything.

DJT is not going to fix your finances. He is not going to give you a million dollars or give you a job. He is not going to make sure your kids have a future with the climate change nightmare we face.
He does not care about you. He cares about money. And he cares about himself.
So why are people voting for him? They say he will reduce gas prices by 10 cents and lower grocery prices. No, he won't!!
If grocery prices are going down, they are going down now because corporations are realizing that their greedinflation did not work out for them. Consumers just cut back and stopped buying.
This article from the Washington Post was published back in May. I have also noticed grocery prices have gone down.

IT'S BAD SPENDING HABITS, NOT THE PRESIDENT
Bad spending habits are behind why many can't make ends meet.
"I hear people say they can't afford groceries and gas, then I see them post they're at a concert or getting a tattoo. Are their priorities the issue or are we gonna keep blaming the federal government for corporations price gouging the hell out of us? Pretty sure the government doesn't set prices of groceries. I'm doing just fine and have found ways to cut my costs at the grocery store. Stop blaming the administration for your crappy spending habits."

How $$ is the cell phone your holding? How many channels do you stream? Have you flown anywhere or gone on vacation? I remember struggling and saving back in the 80's and 90's. When you couldn't afford those extras you didn't get them.
Seems some people don't want to take responsibility for their poor decisions and spending habits. Sure there have been events that have made things tuffer but take responsibility for your part in your present situation.

I keep hearing people complain as they smoke, drink, drive new leased cars and get new tattoos. And groceries cost a lot? Go to another sports event and complain? Nobody wants to make good choices anymore.

If the economy is so terrible and nobody can afford anything why is team maga buying everything he puts out? If gas is so unaffordable why are you having trump parades? Life must be pretty good if you can afford these unnecessary things
Yes, many are working three jobs. Yes, many basics are expensive, though corporations are starting to lower prices.
But it's also all the extras lower income consumers keep buying, even though they can't afford it.

And the most hysterical meme of all:

Have you been out in society recently? Movies, concerts, malls, Target- all full. People spending money left and right. And no, I do not live in a rich area, it is very middle class, very Republican. I am not exactly living near the Kardashians.
People are out getting ready for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the holidays. They are not home, counting their pennies.
That's why when friends and neighbors start yelling about the economy I always point out their new purse or their new set of nails.
