I've realized something about myself: reading isn't the hard part (for me, at least). I can finish a book. The real challenge is creating the space to reflect and write without rushing the thoughts.
February went well, and I'm grateful for the outcome. 🧡 In fact, instead of completing just one book in my reading challenge, I finished two.
Let's begin with the first — the 5th in the series challenge:
Rediscovering the Kingdom by Dr Myles Munroe
This book wasn't just informative. It was a mindset shift.
Let me start with something bold:
I am an ambassador of the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. And that means I'm here with a mission — on a mission.
The Message Is Not Religion — It's the Kingdom
Many people equate serving God with securing heaven in the afterlife. But this book reframes everything.
We were placed on earth with a divine mandate — to represent Heaven's Kingdom and bring God's will into fulfillment here.
Shockingly, the book opens with this bold statement:
"The greatest threat to the future of the world is religion."
That line made me pause.
Looking at Nigeria — or Africa in general — you'll find countless churches on one street. Mosques everywhere. Religious activities happening daily.
And yet… crime, corruption, injustice, inhumane acts continue.
So what's wrong?
Did God initiate a religious movement? Or did He establish a Kingdom?
Dr. Myles makes it clear: God never operated through religion — and never will.
He operates through the Kingdom.
Jesus didn't preach a religion. He preached, repeatedly:
"The Kingdom of Heaven…"
Understanding the Kingdom Structure
One of the most beautiful parts of this book is how clearly the Kingdom is explained.
The Kingdom of Heaven has:
- A health program — healing
- An educational system — the teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit
- A tax system — tithing
- A communication system — the gifts of the Spirit
- A diplomatic corps — ambassadors of Christ (you and I)
- A system of administration — the Spirit working through the Church
- An economy — seedtime and harvest
Isn't that powerful?
When you think deeply about it, every business principle, leadership principle, relationship dynamic, and governance system finds its roots in Kingdom principles.
Religion vs Relationship
One line that stayed with me:
Man wants religion — endless activities. God wants relationship — Father to child.
That difference changes everything.
Religion focuses on routines, events, and appearances. Relationship focuses on intimacy, identity, and alignment.
God isn't looking for busyness. He's looking for sons and daughters.
Dominion Was Lost — Not Heaven
Here's another perspective that hit differently:
Man didn't lose heaven in the beginning. Man lost dominion — authority here on earth.
From the very first assignment in Genesis, humanity was designed to:
- rule
- govern
- manage
- dominate
- lead
When Jesus said, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand," He wasn't introducing religion. He was announcing the restoration of what was lost.
A renewal of mind. A restoration of authority.
Why This Matters Today
People everywhere are searching — for power, control, stability, influence. They don't always realize it, but what they're actually searching for is the Kingdom.
Because deep down, we were designed to lead — not live as victims.
Light truly is the antidote to ignorance.
When people don't know who they are, where they come from, or what they carry, they settle for survival instead of dominion.
Personal Reflection
This book reinforced something for me:
The greatest discovery you'll ever make is self-discovery.
Reading helps. Studying helps. Listening to teachers helps.
But ultimately, you must know God for yourself — beyond what your pastor says, beyond what your parents taught you, beyond tradition.
That revelation only comes through a continuous, personal relationship.
Because once again:
God isn't seeking religion. He's seeking relationship.
A Note From Me
Each review I write is drawn from what I'm learning as I read. I'm continuously seeking knowledge — not to sound informed, but to grow.
Every word shared is meant to edify, even as it reminds me.
My sincere prayer is that none of us miss the light, revelation, and understanding God desires us to have.
Until the next book review this March…
Remember: The message is the Kingdom — not religion. 🧡
