Apple's latest iPads get more power, better storage, and no price hike — should you upgrade now?
Apple's revamped its iPad range, and while the M3 chip upgrade is there, with so many other features on board, it is the entry-level iPad that is set to change the game. With upgraded storage, a new processor, improved performance, and yet still no increase in price, it is so much more worth your money, yet it may not be the upgrade we've been waiting for.
The Budget iPad Performance Now a Little Better

Apple finally updated its entry-level iPad in 2023, which is, by far, the most affordable. The price is $349, but the baffling part is that it has an A16 chip instead of the old A14. For normal tasks like streaming, browsing, and light gaming, the performance was predicted to be quite smooth now.
One of the greatest updates? The storage. Starting now with 128GB rather than 64GB, this model is made for all those people who are sick of running out of space so rapidly. Oh, and becoming every bit cooler, you can pick a maximum of 512GB.
Somehow, out of this, one gaping omission is that, despite Apple's exclusion from the list, this iPad has no A17 chip, which made it incompatible with Apple Intelligence. While most won't mind this fact, it raised questions about future software support.
This remains one of the better choices if you want a quick and affordable tablet suitable for a family or casual user.
iPad Air

It's Got the M3 Chip—Is It Worth the Upgrade?
The iPad Air also saw a small refresh, and let's admit the changes are nothing spectacular. The M3 chip is the added feature set to make the tablet faster than its predecessor powered by the M2. No, it won't have the power to match up to the new M4 iPad Pro, but it is a decent step up.
There are two size versions, the 11-inch and 13-inch, and pricing does not change, aimed at $599 and $799, respectively. But still, the various configurations are limited to a base storage of 128GB unless you're willing to fork out extra dollars.
More Function Keys, but the Good News is It Works with Your Older Magic Keyboard
The Air also gets a more refined Magic Keyboard complete with a few more function keys, but the good news is if you've got any older Magic Keyboard lying around, it'll still work with the new iPad. That's good news for those who want to avoid buying this accessory for another $269.
No Price Hikes — That's Quite Surprising from Apple
Among the most shocking developments comes from the fact that Apple has not raised prices on any of these models. It indeed feels like a win for consumers that, with the cost of tech always rising, the iPads are still being sold at the same price point.
The order is available, and the new iPads will officially launch on March 12. If you've been waiting to upgrade, it might be the time for you.
