VP Kamala Harris' failure to speak to media is 'remarkable and unprecedented': Gov. Doug Burgum

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum joins 'America's Newsroom' to weigh in after former President Trump honored the 13 service members killed in the exit from Afghanistan and reflects on the state of the presidential race.

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump camps sparred on Monday about debate regulations, with the former accusing the latter of engaging in "games". At the same time, Harris's team tries to set up microphones in real-time during the event. Trump's spokesman Jason Miller claimed that the Harris campaign was attempting to alter the prearranged format of the debate after the candidate hinted in a Truth Social post that he could boycott the ABC debate in Philadelphia on September 10.

"Enough with the games," a statement from Trump's spokeswoman Jason Miller was sent to Fox News Digital. "We accepted the ABC debate under the same terms as the CNN debate."

Miller criticized the Harris campaign for attempting to dodge a discussion with the former president rather than immediately answering whether Trump would attend the September debate.

"The Harris camp requested a sitting debate with notes and opening remarks after previously consenting to the CNN standards. We agreed to stick to the established rules," Miller stated. "It is Kamala Harris's fault if she isn't intelligent enough to regurgitate the messages her handlers want her to learn by heart. The Harris campaign appears to be following this pattern. In addition to forbidding Harris from participating in press conferences or interviews, they now want to offer her a debate cheat sheet. They're probably trying to find a way to avoid discussing with President Trump. Harris is in no way prepared to serve as Commander in Chief, anyway."

ABC was contacted by Fox News Digital for a statement. Miller's remarks follow Trump's criticism of ABC News for their Sunday interview featuring Sen. Tom Cotton, a Republican from Arkansas. "I watched ABC FAKE NEWS this morning, both lightweight reporter Jonathan Carl's(K?) ridiculous and biased interview of Tom Cotton (who was fantastic!), and their so-called Panel of Trump Haters, and I ask, why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network?" On Truth Social on Sunday night, Trump posted.

Cotton and Jonathan Karl of ABC News got into a heated argument on Saturday on Harris's prior endorsement of Medicare-for-all. Karl challenged Cotton regarding his critique of Harris's prior endorsement of "Medicare-for-all" during her 2019 presidential campaign. Harris had previously supported the elimination of private health insurance.

"Will panelist Donna Brazil pose the Marxist candidate with the same questions as she asked Crooked Hillary Clinton? "Will Kamala's closest friend, who leads ABC, follow suit?" Trump asked, most likely alluding to Dana Walden, the chairman of Disney TV and a personal friend of Harris's. "Where is George Slopadopolus, aka Liddle, currently hanging out? Is he going to be involved? They have a ton of inquiries to address!"

The Harris campaign addressed the disagreement on the debate guidelines as well. Senior advisor to the Harris campaign, Brian Fallon, stated that ABC and other networks ought to push for both Trump and Harris to maintain their microphones turned on during the entire discussion.

"We have told ABC and other networks seeking to host a possible October debate that we believe both candidates' mics should be live throughout the full broadcast," Fallon stated. According to what we gather, Trump's advisers would rather have the microphone muted since they don't think their candidate can carry himself like a president for ninety minutes. We believe that Trump's team has not even brought up this disagreement with their boss because it would be too humiliating to acknowledge that they don't think he can manage Vice President Harris without the use of a mute button. The Vice President is prepared to respond immediately to Trump's persistent falsehoods and disruptions. Trump needs to come out from behind the mute button."
