FICTION | DRABBLE WRITING PROMPT | RANDOM WORD

A drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words, no more, no less. I hope you enjoy it. Please scroll and read for at least 30 seconds. Claps, highlights, and comments are optional but very appreciated.

In a corner of the attic, Sally searched in earnest for her long-forgotten journal of poems and short stories.

She was on the verge of surrender when a porcelain doll held out what she knew to be her journal. But she must be mistaken. How could a doll have discovered these dust-coated dreams?

She felt silly asking the doll where she found it and even sillier when the doll replied, "Though you have left me unattended, I am still your muse."

As she read her old stories, the gloomy attic began to glow, and the memories flooded back.

For this drabble, the random word to build the story around is "earnest."
