Monday, 20 February 2023, Johannesburg. In the early morning today, Johannesburg tax authorities and police forces entered the home of Medium Writer Lance Sierra. An anonymous tipoff had informed the officers that Sierra hadn't reported his Medium earnings.
After the raid, the head investigator Ms Penny Pincher agreed to talk to The Kraken News. "I call this a very successful raid. All thanks to months of preparations, coordination, cooperation … well … a hell of a something-something-ation, anyway!"
Assets seized
Ms Pincher refused to elaborate further but revealed the authorities had seized a Ferrari and a Yacht owned by Mr Sierra. "Believe me. That guy still has more cars than you or I will ever own!"
The Kraken News had the opportunity to talk to Mr Sierra while he was dragged to a police car. The writer called the joint operation of the tax authorities and police force unproportionate and announced to take legal action.
"This is madness. I have owned that matchbox Ferrari and the Yacht since I was five! I planned to gift them to my son, who will turn five now. And besides the sentimental value, that Ferrari alone is worth more than the $1.73 owed in taxes for writing fiction on Medium!"
