Jusant is a chill climbing game. It's kind of like the Journey or Abzu of climbing. Interesting to bear this in mind in the context of another other very popular and current climbing game — Cairn — which is, as far as I understand it, a very different (hard!) type of game!

Jusant is not a climbing sim. While the majority of your time is spent climbing, the mechanics of climbing are kept very simple — push in the correct direction and hold the left and right triggers at the right time and you'll be fine. You have a stamina bar but it is easily replenished. You get to swing around, grab ledges, do jumps, and in doing so navigate up a pillar of rock miles high until you get to the top.

Instead of realistic climbing, instead what you get is that classic story arc common to these types of games — a beautiful world wrecked by a mysterious force, a silent protagonist tasked with uncovering the truth and setting things right, and getting lots of good photo opportunities in the process. There are notes to collect and abandoned villages to explore, but it's all quite lightweight and not much to write home about. And that's fine — I just enjoyed the visuals and the relaxed nature of the experience.

There's not a lot more to say really. It is pretty, it is relaxing, and enjoyable. The story is pleasant enough, the gameplay is easy enough, and it is just an easy chill game for when you just want to see some nice visuals and explore an unfamiliar world.
