On December 4, 2023, I stumbled upon an app called Google Opinion Rewards while researching simple side hustles I could start with. It is what the Play Store app description says.

"Answer surveys and earn Play credit".

I had gotten misled into believing that it offered money for answering surveys, which I could cash out with PayPal. Only recently, when I tried to withdraw my money, I discovered I could not do that. I could use the money I earned for purchases in the Play Store. Perhaps I am not smart or skilled enough to find out how to withdraw money, but with my current brain capacity and research skills, I could not find a way to deposit money earned through the app in my bank account. While that was quite a bummer, I could earn enough to afford a one-month subscription to Medium.

I had to keep my location accessible by the app at all times to be offered surveys to answer. I have been offered 46 surveys to date. Most of the survey questions I received would ask me if I had visited a certain store and, consequently, if I had purchased with my debit card or credit card. Recently, I received a few surveys asking if I watched a certain YouTube video. They would show me the thumbnail and the title of the video. If I had watched the video, they would have further questioned whether I enjoyed it.

Now, let me reveal the answer to how much I have earned so far. Starting December 4, 2023, with the inconsistent number of surveys I was offered to answer, I earned AUD 9.42. The amount of money I was paid for answering each survey ranged from AUD 0.10 to AUD 0.78. While I agree that the amount is too small, considering how easy it is to navigate through the app and how little time it takes, I found it worth it. However, the downside is that you are not always offered surveys. I noticed that you are more likely to receive a survey questionnaire when travelling that day. The survey questionnaire can expire if you do not answer it for too long.
