On the road, in the grocery store, people get in my way everywhere. I'm at the day-old baked goods, and suddenly five people swarm the same rack. Leave me alone! Back! I wield my loaf of bread. Leave me alone!
What's that you say? I could reframe this? Say I'm magnetic?
Huh! Go magnetize to someone else. Leave me be.
It's a superpower you're not using.
What?
Walk up to the cashier. There's another one. One item in hand, they hesitate, motion for me to go ahead. Why? My cart is full! You go ahead. Back and forth. Finally, I motion sternly. They hunch apologetically and move in line ahead of me.
What is this? Why does this keep happening? It drives me nuts.
Back on the road. Approach a round-about with a stop sign. I stop. Catty-corner from me on the sidewalk. Two people. A dog. Chatting. I start rolling. Slowly come around the curve. Now they step off the curb. Whip their heads toward me. Scared-eyed. Even the dog knows better. Leash taut, it resists on the sidewalk.
Can't the world just leave me in peace?
No. You don't get it, you say. Take a different perspective: Your energy field affected theirs. Your presence sets them in motion. Next time, usher them across with smiling eyes.
The check-out loiterer waiting for permission? They can't help but interact with you. So interact. Usher them, too. With benevolence.
You can't retreat from bother.
Because you're not incognito.
You impact the world wherever you go. It's your superpower. It's everyone's. Things get annoying when you don't use it.
But resistance is futile.
Writing this, I was channeling Steven who, as an introvert, was so annoyed and exhausted the other day with how often people just seem to go out of their way to get in the way. To make a shift, we decided to play a game of reframing and came up with that we're magnetic. We imagined having power fields that interact with everyone else's power fields. That we have a superpower to set others in motion with our presence. A funny thing happened in me, then. Suddenly, I took every interaction personally. I felt like I'm in relationship with every individual. I fell in love with everyone and felt on top of the world! I'm always amazed at the power we have to influence how we experience the world.

Thank you, dear Reader, for stopping by and reading. Blessings.
