We stall, "I'm done learning," like I did, then forgot how to cook rice.
Or we fear flops, I dodged Spanish, scared of "hola," till I tried, butchered it, lived.
And we think it's for kids, I skipped books, felt dim, picked one up, woke up. It's not a race, it's a stretch.
Here's where I quit stalling.
Grab something, knitting, a podcast, easy. I tried a recipe, burnt it, ate it anyway, learned salt matters.
Start tiny, five minutes, I watched a bird video, knew a finch, felt smart. No pressure, I read a page on stars, didn't ace it, still gazed up.
I tried yoga, fell over, laughed, kept stretching. It's not school, I fumbled French, grinned, grew anyway, hooks you quiet.
Overdo it and you're swamped.
I crammed coding once, brain fried, forgot my PIN. Or you preach, "I'm so cultured!" and bore folks.
Worst is stalling, "Not ready," till I skipped a class, regretted it.
Keep it loose, one bite, not a buffet, I learned to pace, not pile. If it flops, shrug, rice still cooks.
How to Learn Without Losing Joy
When it works, it's like a light flick, sharp, not stale. I nailed a riff, played for my dog, he didn't howl, win.
Another time, read history, told a story, felt alive. Tried a knot, tied my shoes fancy, smirked all day. Y
Continuous learning's not about being a genius, it's about keeping your sponge wet so you don't rot.
