Because it reduces male fertility. Bathing with very hot water and using a laptop on your lap can also drastically reduce sperm count in men.
The New Delhi All India Institute of Medical Sciences studied the fertility of North Indian men over the past ten years. The study found that three decades ago, the number of sperm in the semen of Indian men was six crores per milliliter, now it has dropped to barely two crores. The sperm count has plummeted due to the modern lifestyle causing the testicles to get hotter than normal.
Why does the lifestyle become boring?
- The average temperature of a man's body is 37 degrees Celsius, while the temperature of the testicles that produce sperm is three degrees lower than that. This temperature is considered ideal for sperm production in the scrotum. When this temperature increases even by one degree, sperm production decreases by 14 percent. In the past few years, the trend of wearing tight jeans has increased among young men as well as middle-aged men. Wearing skintight denim trousers puts pressure on the scrotum and pushes it to the inside of the body, where the temperature is higher. An increase in this temperature decreases sperm productivity.
- Bathing with extremely hot water or staying in a bathtub or sauna for a long time can also cause infertility problems in men. Apart from this, constant use of laptop also reduces fertility. Prolonged sitting with thighs together increases the temperature of the scrotum by two degrees. Welders, dyers, blast furnace workers, workers in cement and steel factories, as well as men exposed to pesticides for long hours in gardens or fields may also experience reduced fertility.
What is infertility?

- Infertility is the inability to produce a child naturally. Infertility is a problem in both men and women. If a woman does not conceive after twelve months of sexual intercourse without the use of any form of contraception, either the woman or the man may be severely infertile, which is called infertility.
Causes of Male Infertility
- An average of five crore sperms are released in a man's ejaculation. These spermatozoa race to meet female sperm and in this race hundreds of healthy and strong sperm fertilize the female spermatozoa. Sometimes the speed of spermatozoa also decreases along with the number. This condition is called male infertility.
- Infertility in men is usually seen due to diseases like diabetes and thyroid, consumption of drugs and alcohol and smoking. Often genetic defects or hormone problems produce defective sperm, causing infertility problems.
How is prevention done?
- To solve the problem of infertility in men do this:
- Avoid drugs, steroids and alcohol consumption and smoking.
- Do more exercise. Avoid bathing with very hot water and taking sauna for a long time.
- Do not wear very tight jeans or underwear.
- 70 degree Celsius heat is generated inside the laptop if it is left on for a long time. So don't use the laptop while keeping it on your lap.
- Consume foods that contain adequate amounts of folic acid, vitamin C, zinc, magnesium, selenium and iron.
Infertility Treatment
- Most infertility cases are treated with medication or surgery. Artificial insemination method is resorted to in cases where this type of treatment does not increase the number of sperm, speed of sperm. In this method, after testing the man's sperm in the laboratory, a healthy sperm is selected and fertilized directly with the female sperm.
