Hey — It's Ali.
Oscar-winning novelist John Irving once said, "Good habits are worth being fanatical about."
Many people like to start doing new things when a new year begins — like hitting the gym, quitting smoking, or eating better.
Last year changed my life. I did way better in 2023 than in the past 3 years altogether. Here are the habits I adopted that got me there.
1. Embrace the tough times
Whenever I write something great, it usually happens after a bunch of not-so-great writing.
It's funny. I used to avoid feeling down or stuck, but now I welcome it because I know that good things are coming after the tough times.
Life works the same way at every stage. When things don't happen instantly as you hope, accept the setbacks and keep going. That's how you achieve the best results.
2. The Power of Continuous Learning
Embracing continuous learning boosted my income.
Keeping up with the latest trends and tools is crucial in the ever-changing tech world.
Invest some time each week to learn new things; you'll see it reflected in your career growth and earning more money.
3. Your Time
Think of time like your cash; knowing how to use it wisely is critical.
Figure out when you work best, and focus on the important stuff. Also, Identify your peak productivity hours, prioritize tasks, and leverage productivity tools.
By being super effective, you open up time for more money-making opportunities.
4. Spend time with yourself
It's a great habit that can make your life better.
Spending time alone helps clear your mind, relax your emotions, and boost your productivity. Plus, it allows you to discover your true self and connect with the most genuine parts of who you are.
Sometimes, the best ideas pop up when you're by yourself, focusing on figuring things out.
5. Write without any restrictions
An idea is like a spark; without nurturing, it may flicker away.
I jot down my thoughts whenever I get an idea, and I have over 50+ drafts now. Even if the concept isn't apparent, keeping it in my drafts lets me build on it later. This process has helped me create some of my best work.
You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.
6. Strategic Networking
Networking is more than just gathering business cards.
it's about making real connections. Connect with people in your industry online and offline. Go to events, join forums, and make friends with professionals who can share valuable insights, opportunities, and collaborations that boost your earnings.
They said that you become the 4th if your three buddies are millionaires.
So, hanging out with the kind of people you aspire to be can help you get there.
7. Radical candor and being nice
To wrap up, It's time to embrace Condor now.
Being honest with myself and being kind made a big difference for me. I used to be hard on myself, always finding ways to feel like I messed up in meetings or calls.
But in 2023, I decided to change that. I started being more like a coach to myself — being open and kind:
- I learned when I needed some encouragement.
- I realized when I needed to take a break.
Being my coach was way better than being hard on myself. I spend most of my time creating and tiny time dwelling on mistakes.
