Hi My name is Tiana Hebron I first started writing in grade school when we had to write BCRs (Brief Constructed Responses). While many of my classmates found these assignments tedious, I always enjoyed them. There was something satisfying about crafting a response that not only answered the question but also made sense and felt complete. Even though the writing was structured and brief, it gave me a taste of the creative process, and I found myself drawn to it. That small experience marked the beginning of my journey as a writer.
Over the years, my relationship with writing has only deepened. What started as an academic task gradually became a way for me to express myself. Today, I see writing as one of the clearest forms of self-expression I have. Whether it's journaling my thoughts, crafting an essay, or writing a poem, it's through writing that I can give shape to my emotions, ideas, and experiences.
Looking back, I've written a variety of things over the years — essays, poems, and short stories. Most of my writing has been academic, like essays and research papers for school. But I've also written more creative pieces, like poems and stories. These different types of writing have shaped the writer I am today.
I've always enjoyed writing essays because they challenge me to organize my thoughts, present arguments clearly, and communicate ideas in a structured way. But I've found poetry to be a more personal form of expression. There's something freeing about playing with language, structure, and rhythm in a way that feels more flexible and open to interpretation. Stories, on the other hand, have been a place for me to explore different worlds, characters, and ideas. They let me step outside of myself and use my imagination in ways that essays and even poems don't.
In each of these writing styles, I've learned different things. Writing essays has taught me to think critically and communicate clearly. Writing poetry has helped me explore emotion and language in deeper, more evocative ways. Writing stories has taught me how to weave narrative threads and build characters that feel real. All of these experiences have contributed to the writer I am today.
