Ever wondered what the most Googled questions always begin with?

A simple "how to" is all it takes.

While we may think we are all grown ups, we are in fact just kids of varying ages still figuring out life.

And invariably we wonder "how to…." and hope that someone before us has it all figured out.

For many of us who find an alternate community and home in this little world of Medium, it is only fair that all our questions and all their answers sit conveniently in one place.

That is the genesis of the How To Diaries.

As some of you grammar Hemingways (dare I call you Nazis) will have noticed by now, I am not much of a Grammarly user, let alone anything more complicated than that.

In fact, with a five-year-old and a under-one-year-old, I often end up writing most of what I write on my phone, late at night.

So, just like I am, my submission guidelines are simple.

• Your story should be some form of a "how to" story.
• It doesn't have to be a step-by-step guide but ideally do justice to the problem it is aiming to solve.
• Some examples could be proper tutorials such as "How to tie a tie" or "How to fix my plumbing" but I doubt many of you wonderful writers would be keen on those – so more realistic examples would be: "How to master a new skill in X weeks" or "How to touch your reader's soil" or "How to find a life partner" or anything under the sun.
• As of now, I don't have any "no-go" zones in mind but as things evolve I am sure there will be some and you will surely be informed accordingly.
• In terms of writing styles and guides – follow standard Medium guidelines and we are good – plagiarism is a strict NO and unless there is reasonable explanation of an incident, you'd likely not get a second chance.
• For now, I am the sole editor and if things get busy, we will see about adding more helpful hands.
• To be added as a writer, just comment with anything that you think conveys to me that you would like to write for this new publication.
