A line we are going to hear a lot more often…
"A broken heart" is what using the term genocide by Israel means to him. The Award-winning Israeli author David Grossman has acknowledged to the world, this is genocide.
"For many years, I refused to use that term: 'genocide,'" the prominent writer and peace activist tells Italian daily La Repubblica in an interview published on Friday.
He has acknowledged after seeing the pictures and talking to people on the ground there, "I can't help using it." This comes "with immense pain and with a broken heart."
He referred to the word as an avalanche: "Once you say it, it just gets bigger, like an avalanche. And it adds even more destruction and suffering."
Grossman has long been an opponet of the current government in Israel. His views differ vastly from Netanyahu's inner circle. Some of Grossman's formulations as a peace activist may have developed from the loss of his son in combat during the 2006 Second Lebanon War.
Grossman has been a highlt acclaimed Jewis author. His work has been translated into dozens of languages, and has won numerous international prizes. In 2018 he won Israel's top literary the Israel Prize for Literature, for his work that spans more than three decades. They also include: International Booker Prize, Sapir Prize, Erasmus Prize.
Grossman is just on of many highly recognizable Jews to advance the description of what Israel has undertaken for nearly two years now is is a grievous act of crimes against humanity.
What we are seeing is a reckoning, albeit small, the many Israeli citizens are coming to see the actions against the Palestinians in Gaza as genocide. Most of the media in Israel has largely self censored any such talk and since outside press have been restricted, people have had their news largely filtered.
However, it is increasingly clear that those that are a part of the very right leaning Israeli government, many who espouse zionist views, have made unbelievably egregious statements that underscore a deeply disturbing reflection on a mentality that has significant deficits related to humanity. Such comments demonstrate a view of humanity that lacks any ethicacy and certainly is severed from any evidence that the have any sense of empathy for fellow man.
As in the days of the holocaust, those targeted were dehumanized. Likened to rats or vermins. We have seen the same kinds of examples.
When Israel's defence minister, Yoav Gallant, ordered a "complete siege" of the Gaza Strip with "no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed", he said: "We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly."
Israeli actress Tzofit Grant rejected the notion that all humans are equal on Israeli TV. During her interview on a show called 'Stronger Together' she said she can no longer see Palestinians as anything but filth and animals in flip-flops. Her condescending comments received criticism as she condemned any support of Gaza rejecting any humanitarian notion in the Israeli war with Gaza. (Middle East Monitor)
Encouraged by his rabid cabinet that believes that Palestinians are worthless "vermin", Netanyahu has proceeded to dispense with the incremental destruction of a Palestinians and the strip of and that is their home, engineering a genocide in Gaza with ruthless efficiency. Netanyahu truly believes there is no one inside or outside Israel is prepared, willing or stand in hs way.
The pain and suffering of Palestinians is irrelevant to the cabinet. It is actually supported by zionists in the most vial ways. Their intent is to have Israeli settlers take the place of Palestinians in Gaza just as they have been pressing forwardly in the West Bank with brutal violence. Many refer to this as the Nakba of 2024–25.
This has been coming for a long time and quite frankly with American Tax dollars and President after President that have been indisposed of interfering with Israel for fear of not standing with their right to exist.
Netanyahu may well have called it right when he suggested here is no one inside of Israel to stop him, but I believe the international community is in fact coming to oppose him, albeit too late for 60 to a hundred thousand or so Palestinians.
HISTORY IS NOT ON ISRAELS SIDE
Nor should it be. Genocide when unchecked seems to be easier for countries to pull off in the future. That aside, right now before our eyes we know that. Israel is extinguishing a whole generation of Palestinians.
Israeli politicians as well as come high profile citizens have made such statements as "the children must be killed." Whatever depravity allows for this sentiment by adults must be repudiated. History will be harsh on Israel because of these perople, no matter how few they may be, because the bulk of Israel has known and allowed this to happen.
