I was inspired

I wanted to write a blog post on things I can improve. A boring list of skills I am bad at. But then I had an idea. Why don't I actively try to improve these skills?

That's how I came up with this little 365-Day Challenge.

How I Chose My Skills

Ideally, I would choose only one skill, or at the very least, I would choose three skills across different areas (career, finance, anything else). But no, all of my skills are related to writing.

As much as I would love to hone many different skills, I also thought I should stay focused on my niche.

Without further ado, here are the 3 skills I will work on…

3 Skills I'm Improving in 365 Days

Narrative Skills

I've always loved writing stories, and I used to be so full of storylines and ideas. But telling the story on paper is something that I need help with. I think to achieve this I will start writing at least one narrative piece each week. That means I will have written 52 stories by the time it ends.

Search Engine Optimization

I like to think that I know about search engine optimization, but I don't know nearly enough. I understand a few things, like backlinking is important and that every part of your website needs to be labeled. But I'm not very good at it.

What I want to do is read a bit about SEO each week, whether it's an article or a book chapter. I'll start applying the concepts I have learned to my blog posts too, but that process takes time.

Daily Writing

The last skill that I want to work on is more of a routine. I've never been much for routines. I'm bad at following them in a very thorough way. I'll try to set up healthy routines and then forget all about them.

But I want to make writing part of my routine. I'm not promising a whole post per day or anything like that. This writing will be for me. I am going to start journaling on paper each morning or evening. Maybe both. I haven't decided yet.

The more I think about it, the more a challenge like this makes sense. We all have several things that we want to get better at and improve on. Why not focus on 3 for just 365 days? I'll challenge you to take this challenge with me. My question to you is, what are your 3 things?
