I can't tell you how many clients have said the phrase, "I love your website". Why shouldn't they? It's a great website. The concept behind it is simple.

I was looking for a simple and quick solution. I needed to show my clients who I am in a way that would make them know what kind of quality they would receive from me. I'm neither a software developer nor a designer.

This website will be viewed by a small handful of people, so it wouldn't be wise for me to invest $1000+ in a developer to create it for me. So, keeping that in mind, here's what I did.

I simply invested $40-$100 in a fantastic template, installed it myself, and edited it. The idea is if I'm creating a design agency, for example. I would never be sure whether it would work out or not before launching in the market. I could spend days creating a website with a developer, or buy this one.

Let's see. It looks pretty good. It's perfectly mobile compatible. It will cost me $49 and some time to edit it myself. It's perfect.

I chose a design agency in my example. The themes available on the Creative market & Envato Market always surprise me.

They have templates for literally everything. A coffee shop, an NFT marketplace, a newspaper, a product website, a SaaS, a dashboard, a dance studio, whatever your next initiative might be.

So that's the first step, choosing a template. It's quite a fun step as you'll be able to see hundreds of websites, and they all have live previews, which will allow you to see the mobile version and how they look like.

I would highly advise you to choose it compatible with WordPress. From my experience, that's the easiest and the most dynamic.

Then you'll simply install the theme, the steps are as follows: —

  1. Get a domain from whatever domain provider — All domain hosts have Wordpress compatibility and will allow you to install a fresh new Wordpress site.
  2. Install the template (theme) simply by unpackaging what you bought and choosing the "Appearance — Install a theme" in your Wordpress site.
  3. Install the demo content — This varies according to the theme. All themes have documentation that tells you how to simply do it. Generally speaking, they link you to a simple button where you click "Install demo content".
  4. You'll now have the exact website you saw. Editing the text and images would be quite straightforward as well since most of those themes use either Elementor or WP bakery. They have a very simple UI that makes it quite easy for you to change anything.

That's it. You would have a fantastic-looking website in a day or two. This will work perfectly with most who require functionalities like:-

  • Great display & UI (Displaying anything —text, images, videos, maps, etc.)
  • A shop with payment processing
  • A contact form
  • An email subscription form

It would not be the perfect solution for people who are looking into a website where they require the end-user to do several items. For example, a SaaS or a dashboard with a server connected. They could still buy the theme, but it would be used in this case as a design as they'll need a web developer to put in the backend functionalities.

Here are a few of my websites that were developed (some unlisted) according to this methodology: —

Additionally, if you believe you'll be confused with all the steps of how to install the template. I advise you to hire a low-budget freelancer on Upwork to do this for you. It would take him/her an hour or two as they're used to more complex matters.

Why am I advising with this methodology? It's simply a waste of time for any business endeavor to consume a lot of time on creating their website when the real challenge lies after that in proving that they have a product-market fit. Prove to yourself that your online shop is a success, then invest in a $10,000 designed website.
