Happiness is easy to attain! … Though the easiest gifts can be hardest to find. Complications can flood the mind, unnecessarily, but true. Don't let that get you down. Of good tips, I have few. Some nights ago I sat thinking about my own emotional health, so that the ideas might help another too …
"Spending" time — with yourself
There's a delicious feeling in the air at home. A secret known; so good to be alone. When the world around is giving us pain — making us insane, knotting up our brain — a moment of peace is a beautiful thing. It doesn't have to be much, but a moment to be.
A moment to breathe and be at one's own ease. A time to contemplate, meditate, to pray. To splurge and play video games, eat pizza, smoke weed. A time to cook something, to watch movies on TV.
One thing's for sure; that you will get to know you. Away from others, just a bit, and self-discovery will be true.
And with others
But what fun is being alone all the time?! Not much, if you ask me. A bit of time to have fun with a friend or two is sometimes all we need. Don't be stingy! Close family can be a remedy; warmth and laughter brought on by a partner. You can do it close, you can do it far. There's importance in being with those we love.
Now, family, friends, all can be a hassle. At times, they can make us go mad! Though you can't deny the beauty of good company; a body to hug, or holding a hand. A mouth to talk with, another soul to walk around.
Going places is a lick when you have someone to kick it with.
Doing for yourself
After we've spent some time with ourselves — time with our good company — few things make us feel more glee than giving ourselves a treat. Make it good! Better if it's healthy, but a rare sweet or a fry won't hurt. (One fry?!)
That part. I know, the excitement is already there, because treating ourselves is "the best". Doing something you love, eating what you crave, listening to music only you could like. Doing exercise, makeup, getting a haircut, or riding around on a bike. Time to learn something useful, a skill that's new; getting back to old projects, refining a passion. That's cool.
To each style, its own fashion. Few are more unique than you. Sometimes treating ourselves is the least we can do.
But unlocking the gates…
Spending time and dropping self-inflicted blessings, yes, can be a good start for a peaceful heart. Above all else, what makes happiness — they say — is acting for others through the night, through the day. A sense of goodwill, of good charity, is like a warm cup of honey, mixed with milk, infused with tea.
Giving of ourselves, of gifts given, our talents, and our strengths can produce clarity, a path to follow. It can steer the blinds and open our tints. It feels good to help friends, to help family; to be kind. Doing what is good for others can relax and ease our mind.
And so, in the collective, what I wanted you to see is that life is best lived when lived well — happily. Loving the self, loving others, without a good reason to; You exist. We exist. Let's do the best that we can do.
