Music is very personal, isn't it?
December 13: What is the holiday song that you HATE the most? (Robbi Walls hates Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney) Why?
The only lyrics I ever seem to hear from this song are, "SIMPLY HAVING A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS TIME. SIMPLY HAVING A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS TIME."
Over and over and over and over and over and over and IT GETS ON MY LAST FUCKING NERVE. Are there any other lyrics? At this point I don't know and I don't care. I just don't want to hear those same six words ever again. It's kind of whiny, too. If I were going to listen to something repetitive, I'd rather it be Feliz Navidad. At least it's got a good beat and you can bounce around to it.
We no longer have a car and so…
1. Before we moved here, from December 1 — December 25, I listened to two local FM radio stations that played Christmas music and one on Sirius XM.
2. I know nothing about radio stations in Portugal. Do they have one that plays Christmas music this time of year?
3. Sheesh. IS THERE local radio anymore?
At any rate, there are plenty more Christmas songs that would make me turn the station when I heard them:
Anything by Mariah Carey. The shrillness she gets to hurts my ears.
- Anything to do with Frosty the Snowman. I feel about Frosty the way I feel about clowns. Keep them away from me.
- Little Drummer Boy
- I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
- Grandma Got Runover By a Reindeer
These are what come to mind. I actually like I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. But I think hippos are funny. I know, I know. They are very deadly and, I think, can run fast to get you and maul you. They are mostly herbivores, so unlikely to eat you. Bonus!
