Ludiane de Brocéliande has challenged us to write about — You're in a foul mood, complaining about everything. What is sure to trigger a burst of laughter?

We all get into bad moods sometimes no matter how hard we try not to.

The simplest thing can explode into a big thing quicker than we even realize it.

Thankfully, my bad moods are few and far between these days. I've come to the point in my life where nothing matters enough to get upset about it. And I try hard not to complain about things.

But when a bad mood does slip through, and I find myself complaining about something, laughter is the one sure way to fix it.

Research suggests that laughter raises the pain threshold and improves glucose tolerance, has positive effects on the immune system, and lowers blood pressure. — www.thelancet.com

So what makes me laugh…

This morning I laughed at a Bugs Bunny cartoon on MeTV. I mean seriously, I laughed out loud and Rich just looked at me and grinned. He can't fool me. He thought it was funny too. Watching cartoons can always improve a bad mood.

Sometimes I laugh at the grandchildren. Kids can say the funniest thing at the most opportune time and it's hilarious. They shock me regularly. Grandkids can always improve a bad mood.

Animals are funny. I'm mostly talking about dogs here because I am not really a cat person, but cats are funny too. Birds, hamsters, fish, whatever kind of pet it is can be funny. Pets can always improve a bad mood.

Comedy movies. Rich and I enjoy watching a good comedy and when one of us is in a bad mood, that is a sure way to improve it. Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson come to mind. So does Sandra Bullock. A good comedy movie can always improve a bad mood.

So there you have it. The top four things that can make me laugh and improve my bad mood are cartoons, grandchildren, pets, and comedy movies.

What makes you laugh?
