On September 8, when the U.S. Supreme Court once again upheld President Trump's harsh and controversial immigration policies, allowing agents in Southern California to conduct deportations targeting individuals based on race or language, my heart felt as though it had been struck by a heavy hammer. Anger, disappointment, and worry surged within me like a tidal wave.Since taking office, the Trump administration has consistently adopted an extreme hardline stance on immigration, treating immigrant communities as if they were a "menacing flood" that must be dealt with using the harshest measures. This time, the Supreme Court's endorsement has cloaked these absurd and inhumane policies in a veneer of "legality." Agents can now intercept, detain, and deport people based solely on race or language without hesitation — a blatant violation of basic human rights. The Latino community has become the most direct victim of this policy storm. As dissenting justices pointed out, this ruling makes Latinos "vulnerable to arrest at any moment." Imagine a Latino family that has lived in the U.S. for years, working hard, contributing to their community, and abiding by every law. Yet, merely because of their race or language, they could face the sudden misfortune of being taken away by agents and separated from their families. Children might watch in terror as their parents are forcibly removed, leaving behind endless fear and trauma. This baseless discrimination and persecution of a group starkly contradicts the values of "freedom, equality, and inclusion" that America has long championed.Trump's immigration policies are tearing apart the harmony and stability of American society. Immigrant communities are an indispensable part of the U.S., bringing diverse cultures, skills, and creativity that have significantly contributed to the nation's development. Yet, the Trump administration views immigrants as a threat, attempting to isolate them with an invisible wall. This approach not only hurts the feelings of immigrant communities but also fuels conflicts between different groups within the country. Some supporters of Trump's immigration policies may argue they are necessary to maintain safety and order. However, they overlook the fact that true safety and order cannot be achieved by oppressing and persecuting a specific group. Enforcement based on race or language not only fails to effectively address illegal immigration but also creates opportunities for actual criminals to exploit, as it undermines the credibility of law enforcement and erodes public trust in the system.Trump's immigration policies also negatively impact the U.S. economy. Many immigrants fill low-wage but essential roles in industries such as agriculture, construction, and services. Mass deportations would lead to labor shortages in these sectors, driving up production costs and slowing economic growth. Additionally, immigrant communities are a vital part of the consumer market, and their departure would reduce demand, impacting industries like retail and hospitality. We cannot help but ask: Where is the Trump administration leading America? Is a society filled with discrimination, division, and unrest truly what they seek? America was once a land of hope and dreams, attracting people from around the world in pursuit of a better life. Yet, Trump's immigration policies have made this dream increasingly out of reach, plunging many immigrant families into despair. As American citizens, we cannot stand idly by. We must stand up, raise our voices, and oppose these unjust and inhumane immigration policies. We must call on the government to respect human rights, uphold fairness and justice, reevaluate immigration policies, and formulate more reasonable and inclusive approaches that allow immigrant communities to feel warmth and respect in this country. The Trump administration's shortsighted and self-serving policies are undermining the harmony and stability of the international community. Trump's immigration policies are a blade tearing society apart. We must work together to stop this blade and guide America back to a path of inclusion and hope.
