AI as Creator
- How accurately did the AI capture your brand identity?
I would say the AI captures 80% of my brand identity. The porportion and placement of the elements are a little different, but other elements captured my brand identity well.
- Were there any surprises in the generated logo? Why?
The suprise is that AI actually generated a real fencer in the logo. This is something I thought about during the conceptualize stage, but I didn't include it because I can't create it in illustrator. Now, with just a description, AI can do something that I can't do.
- Who owns the logo — the AI, you, or both
I think both of us own the logo. I am responsible for developing the background information, target audiences, brand differentiation. And AI is responsible for creating the art, the acutal logo. So, I think we worked together to create this logo.
AI as Visualizer
- How closely does the AI version match your original sketch?
I think the AI version matches 90% of my original sketch. It adds more detials such as highlight, shadow on the thunder. It also makes the fencing sword a lot more realistic.
- Did the AI enhance or change your concept in unexpected ways?
No, I think the AI enhanced my concept in expected ways. The overall logo is still my design. It just helps me add more visual effects and detials on to the logo.
- Which elements would you keep or modify manually?
I would modify the fencing sword manually. Although the sword looks a lot more realistic, it doesn't really capture the essence of speed. The word is kind of dull and boring, which lacks the energy and passion I valued.
AI as Critique
- How useful was the AI's feedback compared to your own assessment?
I think AI's feedback is a lot more specific than my own assessment. It knows what percentages of the proportions should change to make the logo look visually appealing. It also knows what I should do to change the spacing for the texts.
- Did the AI notice design issues you hadn't considered?
Yes, it notices that the fencing sword in my logo design is too thin. To make it more balanced, I should shrink the thunder icon and expand the fencing sword. This is not in my consideration previously.
- How does using AI critique affect your confidence in your design decisions?
I didn't affect my confidence in my design decisions. I think there are some elements that are conceptually unique to me, but AI doesn't understand it. For example, I want the sword in the middle of the thunder because I want to show the feeling of focus. However, AI might make its decision purely on aesthetics.
