Hey, I'm Chinmay Srivastava, and currently, I'm in my seventh semester studying Btech in computer science and engineering at Bennett University. This year I started working as a software developer intern at Scaler. I will be sharing my six months of internship experience- company culture, my responsibilities, onboarding, and how it feels like to work from home through my blog.

Now in my fourth year, I understand how important an internship is. Internships help me test the practical side of my knowledge and also lead to self-development and employability that complements my degree. During our internships, we can learn new things, get to know the office environment and, above all, explore our chosen career path.

This semester, I had the opportunity to intern at Scaler by Interviewbit in Bangalore. For someone without any experience in an ed-tech firm, this internship experience with such a great organization was quite an eye-opener experience. During this interval, I have gained plenty of insights into how ed-tech companies operate for their learners, such as how they give students educational guidance, learning, and mentorship, and how they help students secure high paid jobs at product-based companies in India and abroad.

To start off with, my experience has been a journey of a roller coaster ride with lots of fun and enthusiasm. My internship kicked off on the 1st of June, 2022 virtually and I sent an email to my manager for a quick catchup and to meet my team. I logged in to my team's standup meeting and met the entire team virtually.

I was assigned an onboarding buddy who helped me a lot in getting onboarded and was always there by my side whenever I needed help. The team never hesitated to help.

I was also assigned a mentor and a tech lead for my project with whom I discussed the High-level and Low-level Design of the project. My mentor gave me 1 month to complete SDE Bootcamp and to get familiar with my team's tech stack and coding practices. I was an amateur at designing systems. I understood how design documents are written and presented to the team. It was a great learning experience indeed!

I was happy to know that my work was valued and that it was making a difference. This fuelled me to keep working towards achieving my milestones and got totally engrossed in the project.

I loved to hear their feedback every two weeks and I used to solve most of their problems by finding out the root cause and responding to them immediately.

Senior Software Engineers in my team were super smart and helpful in guiding me.

Accepting this internship offer this summer was one of the best decisions in my professional life. I am extremely happy to be part of such a great organization. I am in love with the scaler platform ever since I gave my interview as they help so many students with well-structured program and covers relevant topic for them. After working here I discovered how much I enjoy myself here and it's constantly increasing my growth as a developer. I hope you enjoyed my internship experience. I would love to hear from you about your experiences.

Thanks for reading!!
