Today, I went for what turned out to be my shortest run ever. Not 20 minutes, not 15, not 10 — but 8 minutes. I got up this morning and ran for 8 minutes. I have run longer to catch busses, but it was all I had the time for today. It doesn't matter though. What matters is that I did it.

You can't build habits — or rebuild in my case — without starting somewhere. And that's the only thing which matters at first. Starting.

Now that I have taken the first step it will be easier to take the next. I have been reminded how nice it is to get your pulse up before going to work and I have learned that it's not as cold outside in the early morning as I feared for this time of year.

It doesn't matter that I only ran for 8 minutes. What matters is that I learned I could.
