"There is only consumerism in us and no will to create something" I heard this sentence in a podcast by Junaid Akram and this kept repeating senselessly in my mind. Before this I had already joined Gemini Live AI Agent Hackathon on devPost.com (https://geminiliveagentchallenge.devpost.com/) but I was procrastinating alot. When I finally had the motivation I had only 7 days to complete the project.
The idea was an AI agent which helps in makeup and glow up using gemini Live API. I called it "Pretty Alice"
As a start me and my brother had to look at the references for Gemini Live API and how google ADK is used just to get a rough idea on its working. Then came the best tool "Google AI Studio". We finalized the inputs and outputs only on a simple notepad file and gave it to AI Studio. Man it worked magic and really made me realise that yes the simple or average programmers might really get removed- but thats a whole other conversation.
So AI Studio made a very good first preview, then came the human part of constant testing, tuning, addition of more functionalities, cohesion in responses.
As I got my app working with Google AI Studio I noticed it made an SPA with backend in front end. For this I tried to separate both projects on google AI Studio but it wasn't working. Now came into action "Kiro". It did a fabulous job in separating backend from frontend. I tested all functionalities on local and it was great.
Next came deployment, thanks to agents that was also a breeze and it was my first evertime deploying backend on google cloud. It did took 3 to 4 deployment retries but we were successful at the end.
With the basics all figured out we finally made the demo video and artifacts, polished our submission descriptions and submitted for review.
If I win or not that will be up to the efforts. But making something of my own, bringing an idea to reality after such a long time felt really great.
