Gabriela Janette Gutiérrez Aguilar was a nurse at the Maternal and Child Hospital of Tijuana, she was 33 years old and was the mother of a teenager and a five-year-old girl.

On July 12, she was the victim of an armed attack by a hooded man just as she arrived at her home, in the Mariano Matamoros Sur neighborhood, when she was returning from work.
Family and friends described her as a "very empathetic, funny, loving and very hardworking person, dedicated to her children,"
At the end of August, the Authorities of the State Attorney General's Office arrested Manuel "N", Gabriela's husband, who was later accused of being the mastermind of the murder.

The central prosecutor, Rafael Orozco Vargas, explained that, derived from the investigations they were carrying out, it was determined that "there were certain inconsistencies in the statements that were given and in the way of behaving after the fact" on the part of the husband, who also "shood an abundant demand".
They said that, although the relationship between Gabriela and Manuel was already over, legally they were still husband and wife and the alleged femicide took advantage of the closeness he had with his family and children to learn about his routine and kill her.
The prosecutor highlighted that Manuel was present in the two protests held by the family to demand justice for the femicide he allegedly committed, in addition to the fact that, if this crime for which this day would be linked to the process was realized, he could face a sentence of up to 60 years in prison.
