She and my grandfather taught me many important lessons in life, including the importance of faith โ€” having an anchor, a belief in something bigger than yourself, something to carry you through life's storms.

They taught me about family, being there for others, and having goals.

They gave me much-needed unconditional love.

The life they lived was the epitome of a healthy lifestyle. An example worth emulating.

I want to share with you what I had the good fortune of witnessing.

Maybe we can all live into our tenth decade.

Fitness: They took five-mile walks on most days and enjoyed dancing, swimming, and golfing. They believed in daily exercise and enjoying a variety of sports and activities.

Social Connections: They were involved in clubs, a church, and various groups. They formed life-long friendships and made them a priority.

Nutrition: Fruits, specifically grapefruits, lots of vegetables, grilled fish, lean meats, soups, and whole grains. A diet built on the core health foods.

Fun: She and my grandfather took the best trips, traveled, and made time for fun.

Port Wine: My grandma drinks a few ounces of port wine every night.

Vitamins: Take your vitamins. Daily vitamins, a B-complex, baby aspirin, fish oil, and a high-quality multivitamin, which are the extra insurance she's getting what her body needs.

Finances: They paid bills, saved money, and did not excessively spend. They had a healthy relationship with money.

A life well lived โ€” my role models.

We don't have the luxury of knowing how long our time on earth will be, but we can and should make investments in our health and chosen lifestyle.

I am so proud of my grandma; she keeps on without her one true love.

Hopefully, you found some value in these simple but impactful health tips.

Here's to living a long and healthy life.

Onwards.
