Welcome to the unofficial and unendorsed event of any office, anywhere: The Office Olympics will take you hidden beneath the veneer of cubicles and coffee machines lurk the real athletes of the office, competing in a wide variety of events that test patience, cunning and the ability to look busy whenever the boss walks by. Here's a lighthearted look at some of the more unique games…

The Swivel Chair Sprints.

Agile and fiercely competitive, challengers push their chairs to the limit, racing to the printer or the break room. Extra points are awarded for avoiding open drawers and fellow employees who didn't see you coming.

The Stealthy Snack Sneak.

A true test of stealth and timing as contestants attempt to raid the communal kitchen without anybody noticing. Watch out for the rustle of the chip bag — that's a dead giveaway.

The Email Marathon.

An event that examines endurance, and involves creating the most convoluted email possible without actually saying anything. Bonus points are earned by including such phrases as "synergy" and "touch base".

The Conference Call Tightrope.

Competitors toe the line between awareness and reverie during endless conference calls. The truly exceptional are those who can provide a cogent answer to a question when roused from a particularly deep daydream.

The Printer Jam Judo.

A showcase of adaptability and perseverance, challengers face down the printer jam from the depths of laser printer hell. The ultimate goal of the event is the successful resolution of the jam without having to call IT.

The Hot Beverage Hurdle.

Transporting a freshly made hot beverage across the office without a drop spilled requires poise and concentration. Especially when navigating unpredictable door movements and chatty coworkers.

In conclusion:

The unsung heroes of the office will not be standing on the podium, or have a medal placed around their neck. But the office athlete embodies every bit of the spirit and humor that make a workplace feel, well, like a workplace.
