In these uncertain times of a global pandemic in order to keep ourselves and other safe and healthy, we are staying home as much as we can. This can be a big opportunity in disguise for us to really care for our homes and fall in love with them again.

There was a time a few years ago that I thought I wanted to move to a larger home and have more land. I looked a lot at real estate listings, even drove by different properties. I was obsessed with looking around for other homes. However, after I thought about the lifestyle we would have to have to afford and do the upkeep on such a large home, I came to begin the process of falling in love with our home again.

I decided to make a list of our home improvement projects that we wanted to do, figured out what I could do myself like painting and rearranging furniture, and gardening. I began to clean and take care of our home more. It was such a beautiful process of realizing the beauty of what we already have!

Here is my list of 10 things I love about our home. I encourage you to make your own list today:

  1. I feel so very fortunate to have a beautiful home on a quiet cul de sac, close to everything that we need.
  2. I feel blessed that we have a very large backyard where we can grow berries, apples, flowers and vegetables.
  3. I love that we have space to have an office/guest room in our home.
  4. I love the kitchen cabinets, flooring and stairs that my dad made.
  5. I love the deck that we had built in our backyard.
  6. I love that we have a cozy kitchen, dining and living room area that is the perfect size for us.
  7. I love that we have a large laundry closet with room to hang clothes.
  8. I love that we have a cozy family room with lots of bookshelves, room for an elliptical machine and our TV.
  9. I love that we have lots of storage in our garage with shelves my dad built and our old kitchen cabinets.
  10. I love all of the paint colors that we have chosen for all of our rooms.

I encourage you to make a list of 10 things you love about your home. You will be becoming very familiar with it during these times. It's so important that we know how much our home offers us. Can we offer our home love for all it does for us?
